RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive clinical reviews of pharmacotherapy, including:
Drug utilization
Patient counseling
Compliance assessment
Drug interaction screening
Side effect profiling
Drug administration education
Document all clinical reviews and interventions in the patient record
Counsel patients on new therapies using evidence-based clinical models
Complete and comply with REMS training and program SOPs
Coordinate patient care with prescribing clinicians to address social, psychological, and physical needs
Serve as a liaison between patients, caregivers, nurses, home health agencies, hospice providers, and prescribers
Provide subcutaneous injection teaching and coordinate nursing support when required
Process prescriptions accurately and within required timelines
Verify therapy discontinuation and appropriately close patient profiles
Perform intake for new patient referrals via telephone
Deliver “outrageous customer service” as defined by Biologics standards
Operational Responsibilities
Ensure strict compliance with state, federal, and Board of Pharmacy regulations
Dispense medications according to physician orders and legal requirements
Verify prescription order entry accuracy and final product quality
Assist pharmacy technicians with claims adjudication and payment accuracy
Monitor hazardous waste handling and aseptic technique compliance
Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff
Report adverse events and product quality complaints per regulatory standards
Maintain compliance with controlled substance regulations
Professional Responsibilities
Maintain current CE requirements per Board of Pharmacy laws

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy
Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in North Carolina, Texas, or Kentucky
License must be in good standing
Minimum 2-3 years of patient counseling experience
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Comfortable providing telephonic counseling for extended periods

Employment Type: Full Time, Year Round work
Location: Based in the Raleigh, NC Area -- approximately 20% overnight and out of town travel required after training is completed.
Compensation: Pay range is commensurate with experience and skills, both for installation and organization. A 90-day trial period is mandatory, after which full employment is offered to successful candidates.

Job Summary:
The SAA manages all anesthetics in a Care Team Model at WakeMed Cary, a Level III 178-bed community hospital that is a part of the robust WakeMed healthcare system. The incumbent SAA will rotate through 11 main ORs, three endoscopy suites, and two obstetric ORs for c-sections. The SAA will use high patient acuity allowing the new and/or experienced SAA to fully implement their clinical skills and education, and continue to expand within any area of expertise that may be desired.
Duties/Responsibilities:
● Examine patients' history for allergies or illnesses that would affect anesthesia.
● Evaluate and prepare patients, provide education about surgeries/procedures and recovery, and discuss possible side effects.
● Liaise with other members of the healthcare team such as MDs, nurses, and other healthcare workers.
● Determine appropriate amount, type, and method of anesthesia administration.
● Perform anesthetics; administer medication to patients for pain relief.
● Supervise and assist other CAAs/SAAs.
● Oversee recovery and pain management of patients.
● Inform patients of post-surgical and pain management procedures.
● Assist in patient procedure preparation.
● Provide support to other healthcare teams.
● Advise patients on medication type and dosage.
● Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
● Must be a Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant or in the process of completing the certification through an accredited CAA program.
● Current or compact RN license in the state of North Carolina, or able to obtain NC licensure.
● BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.

● Must be an Anesthesia Assistant, or in the process of completing a Master's in anesthesia assistant program through an accredited program.● Current AA license through the Medical Board.
Required Skills/Abilities:
● Ability to provide safe pre-and post-anesthetic care using innovative and proven techniques.
● Ability to assess patients' medical history and plan anesthesia administration for the best outcome.
