Job Description
EXL Risk Control is looking for self-directed independent contractors who possess excellent
communication skills, computer proficiency, and a commitment to meeting client quality and
timeliness standards. You will work from your own home or office, and service onsite
survey/inspection assignments in the Idaho Falls, ID area, and other locations within approximately 45 miles of Idaho Falls.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for scheduling on-site surveys and providing risk control reports to
insurance industry clients. These reports contain information necessary to underwrite a
commercial insurance policy and may include recommendations to control and/or correct
potential loss producing conditions associated with that policy. You will be expected to
manage assignments you accept, successfully secure customer appointments within a
local territory and complete work assignments on time.

HDR is looking for a Transportation Construction Inspector to join our South Carolina Transportation Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) team in the following locations: Charleston, Columbia, Greenville, or Beaufort, SC. This individual will inspect earthwork, storm drainage, asphalt pavement, concrete pavement, and/or structures for conformance to plans and specifications. They will perform material sampling and testing, calculations, and computations, and contract documentation duties, which may include field measurements of pay items as well as other required documentation. Work may include other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Night and / or weekend work may be required as dictated by client project needs.
Preferred Qualifications
Must have considerable knowledge of mathematical functions
Must have skills in the use of office equipment such as calculators and computers
Must have the ability to read, interpret, and explain such things as construction plans, contract provisions, and specifications
Must have the ability to take notes and prepare or review reports, good communicative ability and the ability to instruct other employees in proper work methods
Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule

Minimum requirements for the role of Special Inspector should have at least one of the following certifications or experience (or able to obtain within first 6 months):
* 2+ years of special inspection and/or construction materials testing experience.
* Radiation safety training for the operation of a nuclear density gauge.
* ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician - Grade 1
* Valid driver's license and clean driving record
* Use a company provided laptop or tablet computer and a working knowledge of MS Office programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* A good work ethic and high level of personal integrity.
* Ability to monitor contractors and report results verbally and in writing.
* Proficiency in preparing clear and accurate detailed reports of testing and inspection activities and maintaining work activity records.
* Attention to detail, quality, and safety.
* Authorization to work in the United States.
In addition to the above required certifications, hiring preference will be given to those with any of the following desired certifications:
* ICC Special Inspector Certifications (Reinforced Concrete, Pre-stressed Concrete, Soil, Spray-applied Fireproofing, Structural Masonry, Structural Welding, Structural Steel and Bolting),
* Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) - American Welding Society (AWS),
This position requires the ability to:
* Bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds (22.68 kg) repetitively and over 50 pounds (22.68 kg) using handling equipment (hand truck, etc.).
* Operate heavy equipment as necessary (i.e., ultrasonic non-destructive testing machine, concrete cylinder press, etc.).
* Maintain safe mobility over construction obstacles by foot and ladder, traversing over rough broken ground and steep surfaces.
* Work outside in variable weather at field sites and in labs with various levels of safety protection required.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Perform field observations and materials sampling/testing during construction of buildings, bridges, and roadways.
* Perform testing on construction materials including, soils, reinforcing steel, concrete, masonry, structural steel, fireproofing, metal decking, and paving.
* Write daily field reports documenting work performed by the various contractors and indicating compliance/non-compliance with contract documents.
* Cast field samples of concrete, masonry, grout, etc. for strength verification.
* Provide daily phone calls to Department Manager to inform of daily progress of the project.
* Pick-up construction material samples and deliver to laboratory, deliver equipment to site technicians.
* Implementation of the Client's Project Management Plan, KLF's Quality Management Plan, contract documents, and the local jurisdiction's requirements.
* Contribute to building a high-performing team by mentoring and supporting the Owner's team within the scope of work's space.
* Support the Owner's quality team by consulting the project's team leading effective cross-functional communication.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
PACE is seeking experienced INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS to perform Edison-related inspections for residential and commercial electrical and solar projects throughout the Inland Empire. Contractors will verify installations, ensure compliance with SCE standards, and submit photo-documented inspection reports using mobile tools.
This is ideal for individuals who already operate their own inspection, energy, electrical, or solar services business and want to add consistent, flexible contract work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform field inspections for Edison-related work (solar, panel upgrades, meter changes, NEM/PTO, service upgrades, etc.)
Verify compliance with SCE guidelines, electrical codes, and safety standards
Take site photos and complete digital inspection forms
Communicate results with homeowners, contractors, and internal teams
Provide corrective action notes when needed
Manage your own schedule, routes, and workload as an independent business
Submit completed inspections within required timelines
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
Experience in electrical, utility, inspections, solar, or related fields
Strong understanding of electrical systems and jobsite safety
Must operate as a 1099 independent contractor
Reliable transportation, smartphone, and basic field tools
Professional communication skills
Ability to work in varying weather and jobsite conditions
Preferred
