CAPPS NC Inspection Programmer - BWX Technologies, Inc -- Barberton, OH Responsibilities include: Responsible for the development and preparation of complex machine process programs for all types of computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools. Included in this responsibility is the achievement of on schedule completions at the lowest product cost consistent with quality, safety and system compliance Uses CAPPS NC or similar software to write set up and inspection probing programs for CNC machines. Using CAD models and engineering drawings to define features needing inspection. Works with NC programmers to learn the machining operation sequence to develop the inspection program sequence Job Qualifications / Requirements: * 4-5 years of experience in various phases of manufacturing related to machine tool operations and the application of computer programming to parts processing. * Knowledgeable in precision machining, set up and basic NC programming. Use of multi axis machines is helpful. CMM programming experience is a plus. * A strong emphasis and understanding of GD&T are required. Ability to select inspection routines efficiently to meet the inspection requirements. Additionally, a strong background in CAD/CAM software programming is desired. * Ability to work with machinists running the inspection programs. * Candidate must be familiar with the operations of a large machine shop. Will Interface with Manufacturing Engineers, Design Engineers and Production Supervisors to conceptualize, create, write, modify and debug successful computer programs used by Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machine tools probing for inspection purposes: these programs will interface with Siemens and Fanuc Control. Preferred Qualifications: * 1 year Experience using CAPPS NC or similar software to write set up and inspection probing programs for CNC machines. * A strong understanding and application of GD&T are required. * 1 year Experience using Soildwork CAD software. Pay: $62,000 - $97,000 The base salary range for this position in Ohio (US-OH) at the start of employment is expected to be between $62,000 and $97,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. We are seeking a Machinist (Level 2) to join our team. As a Machinist, you will be responsible for making production machined parts and tools by using precision CNC computer equipment and manual equipment. You will operate, do basic set up, make offset adjustments, set and exchange tooling, perform quality checks while maintaining a best-in-class nature of the equipment and tooling to enhance our abilities to produce parts on time and within specified tolerances. You may also have responsibility in creating and editing programs for new parts for testing. Once parts are produced you will be responsible for inspecting the parts verifying all necessary critical dimensions are within specified ranges/targets. This is a highly skilled role. The role also requires a high level of attention to detail to ensure quality production and reliability in attendance to ensure our on-time delivery to our customers stays at world-class level. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Follow established work instructions and company procedures to ensure safe, quality production. Ability to set up tool registers, mills, lathes, drills, Bridgeport, switches, offsets, and intermediate programing CNC computerized equipment for defined runs with limited supervision or assistance. Ability to run and set up Swiss tool machines and twin spindle lathes Ability to run and set up pallet changers and horizontal mills and vertical mills. Responsible for routine machinery maintenance and running visual tests on broken or worn parts while keeping inventory of machine replacement parts. Understands flow of production and how their production affects plant metrics and customers. Fluent and well versed in blueprint interpretation and title block GD&T and capable of determining key and critical characteristics. Ability to utilize calipers, gauges, indicators, micrometers, and other hand tools related to the occupation. Follow safety procedures and guidelines in the assembly process. Maintain a clean and organized work environment. Cross-train to on other equipment as needed. Other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Requirements Follow established assembly procedures to ensure quality production. Certificate in machine shop technology or technology/machinist - preferred associates degree 2-3 years of experience in a machining environment beyond post secondary or trade school education required Recognized apprenticeship may be required. Preferred Skills and Abilities Strong analytical, communication and computer skills. Strong understanding of mathematics Strong communicator and team player Ability to work independently and high attention to detail.
