    This position will be responsible for accurate payroll and related tax posting and reconciliation to the general ledger for all payroll related accounts for a multi-state environment at the state and federal levels. You will manage all queries related to income tax returns, provide accurate paperwork to tax authorities, and resolve issues in tax filings along with address inquiries from various taxing jurisdictions. Also, this position will manage the payment process for third party administrators of benefits, assist in fiduciary responsibilities and support annual benefit plan audits. Duties and Responsibilities: * Review and reconcile general ledger postings and accrual balances on a regular basis, analyze data to evaluate required balances and adjust accounts accordingly, in conjunction with payroll staff. * Manage federal and multi-state tax reporting and compliance with third party service provider. * Monitor relevant tax legislation, tax codes and IRS guidelines. * Work with tax authorities and governing bodies to ensure timely resolution of all payroll-related tax issues. * Manage tax errors by implementing corrective measures. * Conduct payroll tax audits to monitor tax withholdings, pay rates, wages, and deductions in payroll and verify compliance with tax and labor laws. * Identify income discrepancies, handle overpayments, and document amended returns to ensure accurate filing of income tax returns. * Report changes in tax policies and inform employees about the latest tax obligations and processes. * Review, reconcile, and approve monthly benefit calculations to third party administrators. * Work with third party administrators of 401(k) and pension plans to ensure accurate and timely reporting and compliance in filing requirements. * Oversee and assist in audits of benefit plans and other external examinations of payroll information. * Collaborate with HR and other internal partners to discuss issues, policies, procedures, and process improvements. * Work with the Director of Payroll in the review and analysis of current payroll, benefits, and tax procedures in order to recommend changes leading to best-practices. * Performs all other duties as assigned. Minimum Job Requirements: Education/Certifications and Experience: * Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, or other related field. * Minimum 5 years of accounting experience. * 5 years of experience working in payroll, preferred. * CFP or CPA eligible a plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Proficient use of computer, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote), and other related applications or software. * Proficiency in ADP Smart Compliance or other third party. * Experience with Workday payroll software and SAP or a similar accounting package a plus. * Knowledge of full-cycle payroll process, controls, multi-frequency, multi-state, taxes, garnishments, financial compliance, and regulations preferred. * Understanding of systems integration and the ability to interact with IT and service providers on system-related issues and requirements. * Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills to identify payroll-related tax issues and compliance errors. * Ability to research and report on technical tax issues related to payroll and benefits. * Team player with the ability to build and foster working relationships across department lines. * Ability to work accurately under deadline pressure. * Ability to be self-directing with limited supervision. Supervisory Responsibilities: * N/A Working Conditions and Physical Effort: * Typical work in an office environment. * Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. * Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and using a computer that may require repetitive tasks, such as data entry and report generation. The salary range for this role is: $70,127.00 - $124,487.00 Actual compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as geographic location. C.H.
