Auto-ApplySierra Christian Church (Beckwourth, CA) - Senior Pastor
Beckwourth, CA
Sierra Christian Church (Beckwourth, CA) - Senior Pastor
The Big Picture
Sierra Christian Church (********************************** is prayerfully seeking a Senior Pastor.
Requirements
The Church
Our church was established in 2013, when we began by meeting in homes before purchasing the historic Beckwith Tavern. We are located on Highway 70 in the small town of Beckwourth in rural Northern California. This building has long-standing history and significant meaning to our community. The prior owners completed a beautiful renovation of the entire building prior to us purchasing it. The structure initially consisted of a sanctuary, one small classroom, and a fellowship area which still houses the bar from the original tavern. We use the bar area to serve a potluck lunch weekly for us to fellowship together as a family and with visitors.
We currently have 73 members. Approximately 70-80 regularly attend the worship service. Our community and our church are largely conservative even though our culture seems to be trying to change that. We feel called to offer a unique church service that is somewhere between traditional and contemporary.
We are a mission-minded church. Among our highest priorities is supporting our pastor, missionaries, and ministries. We support mission work in Mali, Africa; Can-eo, Philippines; Sacramento, California; and Portola, California. We also support the Operation Christmas Child shoebox ministry and local ministries such as Peak Women's Care, our weekly lunches, pocket cross ministry, community movie nights, a fall festival, and annual community dinner.
Our church has a vision and desire to continue to grow in Christ and to serve our community for the foreseeable future. God's plan for us is not to be stagnant. We realize there is always room for improvement. We desire to expand and produce fruit. We are open to and value growth as the Lord leads us, and we love the ministries and the worship service He has us enjoying at this present time.
Duties and Qualifications: Sierra Christian Church is prayerfully seeking a new senior pastor. In addition to the Biblical requirements for leadership laid out in I Timothy 3:1-7, we are looking for a pastor to be a shepherd to our small, mountain-community church.
· We are looking for a pastor who agrees with our mission statement and core beliefs.
· He must love God, love our church family and the greater community, have a heart for people, and consider pastoring, personal spiritual growth with Jesus, and establishing relationships among his highest priorities.
· He must have a clear sense of his calling of obedience to the Lord and feel led to serve as our pastor for the long-haul.
· Ideally, he will preach the Word with conviction and clarity. It would be important for us that our pastor preach in an expository manner.
· He must have a servant's heart (considering no job too small or beneath him and willing to work side-by-side with other members of the body), lead by example, provide vision and leadership, and be discerning, humble, and empathetic.
· In addition, we want to emphasize agreement with verbal, plenary inspiration and complementarianism.
· We would like a married man or widower with a good sense of humor, who is a good fit for our church and our rural community.
· We expect that our pastor will whole-heartedly embrace eastern Plumas County by living, working, recreating, and connecting with residents of our community.
· We have an elder-led leadership team, so he must be willing to work together with his fellow elders in making decisions for Sierra Christian Church.
Benefits
Compensation:
Our current tithes and offerings allow us to budget up to $65,000 for our pastor. This would account for salary, housing allowance, mileage, and health and retirement benefits, and would depend on experience. We would consider someone for a bi-vocational role.
The Process
Please look over this job description and the church website. Along with your resume please answer these questions:
Why do you believe that you might be a good fit as the Pastor at Sierra Christian Church?
Describe your experiences in ministry and how you may be qualified to serve as the Pastor at Sierra Christian Church?
In just a few sentences please give a summary of your theology and how that is in line with the beliefs of Sierra Christian Church?
Please send your resume, the answers to these questions and a link to at least one online sermon to ****************************
