PITCO FOODS ORDER SELECTOR PITCO Foods is a large independent foodservice distributor in Northern California. Based in San Jose, CA, PITCO also has distribution centers in Brisbane, Oakland, and Sacramento. Pulls merchandise from stock for high-volume business delivery orders. Pulls and loads items onto the truck, and boxes small cooler and freezer items into milk crates. Follows proper safety and security procedures and standards. DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES: Obtains pull sheet (list of number and location of items to pull for an order) from control desk. Lifts pallet from low stack and sets on floor. Observes safety and security procedures, such as, performing daily safety checklist for electric pallet jacks prior to use, checking manual pallet jacks and pallets and tagging any with defects, using proper lifting technique. Pulls pallet through warehouse, selects items from floor stock to assemble orders. Checks each pull to ensure correct item and quantity are pulled and that all items are in good condition. Enlists forklift driver to drop full pallets from steel shelves for large quantity item orders. Spots for forklift drivers to keep people out of fall-danger zone. Ensures that forklift is always traveling at a safe speed to ensure the safety of customers and other employees. When using the electric pallet jack, always follows the company's safety standards. Writes quantity/weight of each item pulled down on pull sheet. Notes any approved substitutions and out of stock items. Signs off on completed pick sheet. Job Description: Order Selector The Order Selector is responsible for accurately picking, staging, and preparing customer orders for shipment from the distribution center. This role ensures that products are pulled from the correct locations, in the correct quantities, and prepared according to company standards for accuracy, efficiency, and safety. Accuracy & Quality Ensure all orders meet company standards for accuracy and completeness. Report shortages, overages, or product damage immediately to the warehouse lead or supervisor. Maintain cleanliness and organization in pick areas and staging zones. Collaboration & Communication Participate in daily warehouse huddles to align on priorities and shift goals. Communicate effectively with leads, clerks, and drivers to ensure smooth handoffs. Provide feedback on order accuracy, product slotting, or workflow improvements. Schedule & Reporting Full-time, warehouse shift schedule (second shift often focused on order pulling and truck loading). Reports directly to the Warehouse Lead or Operations Manager. Perform the job responsibilities according to IS0 9001 work instructions and standards: Essential Functions: REQUIRED PRODUCTION OUTPUT PER SHIFT: 24 looms/ 72 tickets per 8 hr. shift. Determine order to be filled from Supervisor and/or printed ticket. Record loom# obtained and # of `tickets to be filled. Obtain yarn from bins. Match filling lots to minimize cloth defects associated with shade changes. Use piece cones when possible, but make sure lots are not mixed if a (X) is present. If mixed lots are allowed, follow all guidelines for proper filling of order. Fill ticket as specified. Be sure there is a sufficient amount of the correct yarn colors to complete the order. Make sure all SAP transactions are performed correctly and yarn is properly adjusted. Take yarn to the Transport staging area to be taken to the loom by the Transporter. Keep yarn bins clean and in order when filling tickets. Make sure to bag all “white” yarn. Perform other duties when needed or assigned by Supervisor. This includes all 5S assignments.
