1916

As far back as 1916, Bishop Cornelius Van de Ven of Natchitoches had asked Mother M. Teresa to build a hospital in Alexandria, and several times afterward both he and his successor, the Rev.

1920

25, 1920, at 457 West 163d Street and was called the Columbus Hospital Extension.

1939

10, 1939, for the founder of the Sacred Heart order, Francesca Xavier Cabrini.

1946

Mother Cabrini was canonized by the Roman Catholic Church in 1946.

1950

The $3 million, 126-bed hospital was opened on the feast of St Joseph, March 19, 1950.

By April 2, 1950, more than 56 patients had been admitted and a variety of surgeries was being performed.

1951

In 1951, the architects received an award of merit from the American Institute of Architects for the Cabrini project.

1965

Responding to the needs of a growing community, an expansion program was initiated in 1965.

1969

In 1969, a six-story addition was built, increasing the hospital's capacity to 254 beds.

1975

On March 21, 1975, a milestone was reached as Central Louisiana's first open-heart surgery was performed at Cabrini Hospital.

1990

During the late 1990’s, Southern Tagalog had the most number of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) and with the then emerging industrialization in Batangas, Mr.

1998

St Frances Cabrini Medical Center was established in July 15, 1998, same day as the birthday of Doctor Nora A. Torres, the Senior Board of Director and spouse of the owner, Mr.

1999

In 1999 CHRISTUS St Frances Cabrini Hospital became part of CHRISTUS Health System as the Sisters of Charity Health System and the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word Health System were consolidated.

2018

The Foundation originated from the 2018 sale of Fidelis Care, a nonprofit health insurer, inspired by the bishops of the Catholic dioceses to increase healthcare access for New York’s poor.

2019

The Foundation’s inaugural round of grants at year-end 2019 delivered $150 million to more than 500 nonprofit organizations, programs, and initiatives serving low-income and underserved populations across New York.

2020

In 2020, the Foundation stepped up to serve hundreds of frontline providers in addressing the unprecedented health and health-related needs of New Yorkers that skyrocketed due to the impacts of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
