The Electrical CADD Drafter prepares electronically generated design drawings with accuracy, neatness, and efficiency. Will also maintain communication with team members and attends project planning meetings as needed.

Key Responsibilities:


Uses mark-ups as provided by senior engineer/designer to develop design layouts Reviews drawings and makes changes according to redlines Utilizes industry software to indicate on drawings where equipment, outlets, and other design elements should be placed Communicates with team members, project managers, other disciplines, and outside vendors to obtain necessary information for drawings Coordinates with various engineering disciplines to develop and correct plan layouts Reads and interprets drawings to create legend sheets and large scale detail sheets Ensures all drawings are prepared efficiently with accuracy and neatness Assists the design team in the process of putting a set of drawings into an organized package Attends project planning meetings with project managers and team members as needed May assist in data collection and/or field verification Performs other non-drafting assignments as required by the design team

CDM Smith cadd drafter job description

The position is open to a hybrid work schedule allowing work from home several days per week. We prefer for someone to be based out of our DFW, Dallas or Kansas City offices.

•Prepares, in a lead role, near complete sets of construction drawings which may include multiple views, detail drawings, and assembly drawings indicating components of equipment, facilities, or systems where minimal information is provided by rough sketches and/or verbal outlines of requirements.
•Utilizes advanced CADD drafting/design techniques per the firm's CADD Graphics Standards.
•Acts as CADD coordinator during the project lifecycle to ensure coordination between the design team and any outside subcontractors etc., as required.
•Performs related discipline tasks in support of project engineer, such as writing procedures and specifications, compiling and computing engineering data, initiate basic design tasks, etc.
•Performs routine checking and/or verification tasks including review of junior staff documents to ensure adherence to company standards and procedures.
•Performs related fundamental engineering support tasks such as plotting drawings, assembling drawing packages, preparing transmittals, preparing overnight packages, file management and/or filing prints, distributing drawings, making simple calculations, proofreading reports, coordinating PDR/EDR and/or specifications with drawings, etc.
•Reviews manufacturers' or fabricators' prints for aid in design documents.
•References information from vendor prints, catalogs, technical manuals, etc.. Supports field assignments as required. Performs other duties as required.


Minimum Qualifications


•High School diploma or equivalent with vocational technical training in basic CADD drafting technology and/or 3D drafting.
•8 years of related experience.
•Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
•Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
