Cake decorator job description

Responsibilities:

• Providing premier customer service, including greeting them and responding to questions

• Icing, decorating, packaging, labeling, and pricing products for refrigerated cases

• Icing, decorating, tray, and maintaining freezer and refrigerated showcase

• Filling customer special orders, including Birthday cakes

• Dynamically selling products by providing customers with information needed to make product-relation decisions

• Following Baskin’s guidelines for Cake Decorators

• Maintaining Baskin’s high standards for product freshness and sanitation

• Organizing and rotating stock in the Decorator's freezer

• Training other associates as needed

• Assisting with the delivery and set up of cakes as needed

• Assisting in other duties as assigned

Starting wage: Up to $16.00 Per Hour Based On Experience

Requirements:

• At least 18 Years of Age

• Experience as a Decorator Apprentice or equivalent experience outside Baskin

• Able to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer service

• Able to read, write and perform simple math problems

• Able to interpret, understand and follow instructions and solve problems

We will rely on you to:


Decorate cakes to customers' specifications Squeeze pastry bags and monitor the weights and quality of cakes, filling and icings Comply with all safe working procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices to ensure safe and wholesome products Organize and maintain stock level of all cake supplies using a First-In/First-Out method Maintain product records Follow safe handling guidelines and assist in maintaining plant cleanliness by using company-approved cleaners and equipment - ok Contributing to a positive team environment

Requirements/Responsibilities

Prepare and decorate cake products according to customer specifications and all applicable standards and procedures.

Properly and safely operate and maintain cake and soft serve equipment while following all health and safety standards.

Maintain an adequate inventory of decorated cakes at all times, including back-up cakes during holidays, national promotions and other peak cake occasions.

Keep display freezer full at all times to the proper level with a variety of cakes attractively displayed.

Take and fill customer cake orders in a professional and timely manner.

Be pleasant and alert to customer needs.

Work as a “team” member to assure constant and consistent quality, service, cleanliness and value to each customer.

Clean work area, organize and stock needed items.
Stock and execute proper rotation of products.

Wash counters, tables, restrooms, trash receptacles, gather trash and remove from dining/service areas to proper receptacle, sweep, mop, stock and other cleaning tasks.

Report directly to Cake Manager and complete responsibilities as directed.

Travel between multiple locations is likely. Photos of previous work will be accepted upon review of application as well as in store decorating assessment
