Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.

Calibrates electronic test measuring equipment and signal generating equipment to conform to set standards. Tests, calibrates, adjusts, and maintains electromechanical, mechanical, optical, pneumatic, hydro mechanical, and pressure-type measuring and indicating instruments. Sets up calibration sequences, methods and procedures according to detailed specifications, blueprints, drawings, and requirements. Disassembles, cleans, repairs, and replaces defective parts of test equipment such as pressure gauges and tension meters. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

Calibration Technician to work in the Metrology Lab at BAE SYSTEMS, in Wayne , NJ. The job entails Calibrating, all types of Measuring and Test Equipment. Included are Electronic Meters and Gauges, Mechanical Tools, Environmental Temperature, Vacuum, Pressure, ect. Training on specifics, are accomplished with help from within.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

* 2 years experience in a Calibration Lab
* Military Experience will qualify as well (3 years)
* Minimum High School degree or Trade School for Electronic Technology

1. Calibrates, adjusts, troubleshoots and repairs moderately complex test and measurement equipment within pre-established technical flat rate time limits,with assistance as needed, using Duncan Aviation approved procedures and appropriate technical publications in a clean and safe work environment.

2. Prepares complete and timely documentation, including updating work order status, as required by Duncan approved procedures and customer requirements. Maintains personal training log.

3. Prepares complete, accurate and timely information for creating repair and/or calibration estimates. Maintains files on calibration of test equipment in compliance with Duncan Aviation approved procedures and customer requirements.

4. Maintains and cleans test and measurement equipment and work area as required.

5. Performs other duties as assigned by management.

• Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required
• Physical: Routinely up to 25 lbs., occasionally up to 75 lbs.; identifies colors; tolerates standing and sitting; reads small print; tolerates products and materials associated with component maintenance
• Environmental: Tolerates working in a noisy environment
• Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00AM - 2:30PM

Education and Experience

Calibration Lab Technician I:

• Associates Degree in Electronics or equivalent required
• Previous Calibration experience, test equipment repair or related experience preferred

Calibration Lab Technician II:

• Associates Degree in Electronics or equivalent required
• Minimum one year Calibration experience, test equipment repair, or related experience preferred

Calibration Lab Technician III:

• Associates Degree in Electronics or equivalent required
• Minimum five year Calibration experience, test equipment repair, or related experience preferred

What You Will Do In Your Role

* Ability to perform chemical analysis, including, but not limited to titrations, distillations, wet chemistry, GC, LC, IC, UV-Vis, XRF, and TOC as needed
* Ability to perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and calibrations for lab analytical instruments.
* Maintain calibration documentation and instrument troubleshooting data as per lab quality standards.
* Ability to create and conduct training sessions for laboratory shift technicians
* Participate and lead lab/operations projects and method development studies.
* Document and communicate issues regarding quality data, instruments, production, or supply and participate in critical investigation
* Maintain knowledge of plant processes, general chemistry, and theory of lab analyses.
* Use LIMS to communicate results and manage lab data.
* Ability to work effectively within a team environment with lab technicians, operators, process engineers, research technicians, and exempt professionals.
* Ability to problem-solve, use critical thinking skills, and perform root cause analysis.
* Strong organization and planning skills.
* Ability to prioritize work based on highest value and critical instrumentation.
* Maintain calibration inventory and purchase parts as needed.

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:

* Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Biology or related field OR 2-3 years of calibrations experience in an analytical laboratory PLUS High School Diploma/GED
* Experience using Microsoft Word such as creating, editing and formatting documents and preparing reports and tables.
* Experience using Microsoft Office Excel such as creating and modifying spreadsheets and using functions, filters, and graphs to analyze data.

Physical Requirements:

* Must be capable of regular lifting and moving up to 10 pounds, frequently lifting and moving up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.
* Capable of working with a glove box and air free chamber
* Must be able to discriminate subtle color differences
* Required to work an 8-12 hour day shift
* Required to be available for on-call overtime (nights and weekends) as required by the business.

What Will Put You Ahead

* Experience in calibrations, maintenance, and repair with GC, LC, IC, UV-vis, TOC, XRF, KF titrators, etc.
* 3 years or above work experience with GC and LC instrumentation.
* Experience working with Sample Manager, Atlas, and Chromeleon
* Knowledge of instrument theory
* Masters degree in chemistry, biology, or other related science field
