Technician, Pipette Calibration - Chantilly, VA - Monday - Friday

Under the direction of the Manager, Bio-Analytical Instrumentation, a Pipette Technician, organizes and provides all calibration, repair, preventative maintenance, and technical support for single channel, multi-channel, bottle top, Dilutor liquid handling devices. Ensures that monthly goals and objectives for each department are accomplished in accordance with the SOP. Will be the liaison with manufactures to ensure that goals and objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed timeframes.

Job Accountabilities

1. Provide calibration, repairs, and preventative maintenance to single channel, multi-channel, and repeater pipette device

2. Prompt identification of system problems and utilization of all available resources for timely resolutions

3. Maintain adequate parts inventory for instrument maintenance and repair.

4. Scope of work to include, but not limited to, Thermometer Calibration and other small metrology instruments

5. Work in an ISO structured environment. Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 17025, GMP, CAP

6. Liaison with manufactures to ensure that goals and objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed timeframes

7. Attention to detail; work in a highly documented and controlled environment and keep a working knowledge of regulatory standards

8. Collect, compile, and measure data to support calibration traceability documentation/certificates

9. Understand and follow calibration SOP's

10. Consistently meet deadlines

11. Mechanically inclined

12. Ability to work independently and well within a team environment

Qualifications:

Education:

* A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
* Bachelor's Degree or technical degree or an Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with at least 2 years' relevant technical experience preferred

Work Experience:

* At least 18 months experience calibrating / validating and repairing single channel and multi-channel pipette, bottle tops/ Burettes, Dilutor, LVD's and repeaters,
* Knowledge of major manufactures and handheld liquid handling devices ability to performing preventative maintenance.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

* This position requires both physical and mental demands that will include sitting for long periods of time and focusing on the task at hand.
* Light lifting maybe required.
* Ability to walk distances (large facility)

Technical Training or Professional Licensing

* All certificates of completion from manufacture's training

Responsibilities

The incumbent receives general program assignments from a supervisor or higher-level manager. Assignments are stated in terms of priorities, overall objectives, and boundaries. Provides electronics technician support of the systems engineering function for NAS air route radar systems (includes En Route Long Range Radar systems), and serves as a principle technical specialist for guidance on, and resolution of, problems associated with continued operation of commissioned facilities and resolution of problems related to the introduction of new systems into the NAS.

Applies broad experience and comprehensive technical knowledge and is considered a technical expert within the organization for assigned NAS systems and equipment. Incumbent applies electronic technician expertise to the solution of hardware/firmware problems such as modification and modernization to improve the reliability, maintainability, and safety of assigned NAS systems/equipment and facilities. Specifically, for assigned NAS systems, the incumbent performs work of broad scope providing the highest organizational level of technical support associated with in-service improvements.

Performs analyses, design, development, and implementation of system-wide hardware/firmware modifications; service life extension; failure analysis/support in response to complex NAS related problems beyond the assigned repair capability of the field; NAS configuration management; quality assurance; development and issuance of associated national technical directives and maintenance guidance.

Involved in the development and evaluation of the operational readiness and/or supportability of new NAS systems for deployment and technical support to new system acquisition efforts. Responsible for independently analyzing/resolving a wide variety of user problems and system failures involving functional and technical challenges (e.g.en route radar data/digital signal processing; en route radar antenna controls and motors; equipment/tools for controlling, monitoring, and reporting system for en route radar and other equipment in building status and health; firmware design, burn/load, debug; and/or circuit card assembly (CCA) design).

Gathers information, analyzes, evaluates, and plans course of action to resolve design/operational problems within assigned NAS systems. Analyzes system performance and fault information from field facilities to identify causes of system failures, defines and takes corrective action, or makes recommendation and seeks/influences others to support those issues wherein capability to resolve is not within NASE. Plans, organizes, coordinates, and integrates the work of multiple projects to accomplish organizational/strategic objectives related to assigned NAS systems, while maintaining cost, schedule, quality and performance.

Represents the organization as a primary technical point of contact in intra- and inter-service agency meetings relating to the technical aspects of in-service improvement, new system development, technical documentation, and resolution of problems associated with the NAS. Contacts are to furnish technical guidance and advice, share information, provide data, and discuss the statuses of assignments. These contacts can be internal and external to the organization. Represent the technical aspects of the NDP/AJW-142 program and bridge the gap between the engineering functions of second level engineering and the functions of the FAA Air Traffic Organization while maintaining good working relationships with a wide variety of individuals using tact and patience when dealing with difficult situations. Initiates contact with system users and technical counterparts to gain their cooperation to resolve problems and/or implement new equipment or system changes. Responsible for the development and delivery of technical guidance for system users. Analyzes and resolves a wide variety of user problems and system failures involving functional and technical challenges.
