The CRC Elk Hills Maintenance Team is seeking to fill a Reliability Engineer position to support our Greater Elk Hills assets based out of our Tupman, CA location. This position is eligible for a hybrid work-from-home schedule.
Responsibilities

* Work closely with the PDM vibration collection and analytics group to identify early signs of equipment failure and correlate vibration data with equipment failure during failure analysis.
* Perform root cause failure analysis on equipment, identify design improvements, and incorporate the new design into the rebuilt equipment.
* Witness equipment tear downs in the field to provide technical recommendation or verification of the cause of failure.
* Work closely with rebuild shops to assess equipment during tear down and determine appropriate scope of repair.
* Lead equipment reliability reviews to identify equipment prone to failure and provide recommendations on process, operation procedure, or equipment type changes to reduce mean time between failures.
* Coordinate with operators, maintenance coordinators, and contractors to put the changes identified in reliability reviews into practice.
* Perform equipment optimizations based on current operating conditions to increase equipment reliability and lower maintenance costs.
* Support and expand the equipment surveillance program by developing early detection tools that can be utilized by the maintenance and operations teams.
* Provide technical support to other rotating equipment team members.
* Work closely with mechanics in the field during the maintenance and repair of rotating equipment.

Required qualifications:

* Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering
* Five (5) years or more experience in a field related to rotating equipment performance and failure analysis, surveillance, or maintenance.
* Three (3) years or more experience in field related to natural gas and produced fluids process engineering.
* Strong understanding of multistage high speed reciprocating compressor mechanics and performance sizing.
* Strong understanding of large ( 500 HP) natural gas screw compressor mechanics and performance sizing.
* Strong understanding and the ability to apply the Otto thermodynamic cycle to 4 stroke natural gas engines to determine engine failures and optimization opportunities.
* Ability to size and specify pumps for a process application including pump type, materials, and seal plans.
* Understand how process conditions, equipment installation methods, and operating procedures can affect pump and compressor performance and reliability.
* Communication and interpersonal skills, as required in working with mechanics, equipment vendors, and repair shops to identify equipment failure points and improve equipment design.
* Demonstrated commitment to safety, including safety considerations in engineering design, recommendations, and operability
* Proficiency in the use of personal computers, including word-processing, database, spreadsheet, and electronic simulation software applications.

* Required to make periodic trips to the field locations to conduct meter reading and field verifications on process, production and operations numbers.
* Optimize the Health, Environmental, Safety and Risk program compliance through teamwork and computer-based processes.
* Support other HSE and Asset initiatives and programs.

Key Activities:

* Under the mentorship of the HSE Staff, develop a thorough working knowledge of the company's health, environmental, safety, and facility regulatory compliance requirements, processes and procedures.
* Maintain, coordinate and update the HSE Websites and Materials for the Department.
* Maintain the Incident Investigation Tracking system and develop monthly KPIs from the data.
* Maintain and manage the SDS on-line systems and field databases.
* Oversee and manage the Business Unit's computer data-based action tracking systems (KMS, Training Mine) that result from HSE and Operations Audits and Assessments.
* Work with Operations and HSE Personnel to develop procedures and training materials that can be multi-media intensive.
* During Incident Command Systems drills and exercises fill the roles of Documentation Unit Leader.

Required Qualifications:

* Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, Power Point, and SharePoint.
* SQL, Evin, Pi, Tow, ProCount knowledge a plus.
* Functional Knowledge around multiple HSE Applications - list in resume.
* Strong verbal, coordination, and project management skills.
* Excellent organization and time management skills.
* Willing to learn constantly evolving Health, Safety, Environmental, and Risk requirements, codes, and standards. Must be a Team player. Must be open to debate and constant dialog. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and field operations personnel.
* Must be willing to go to the oil and gas field operations to conduct site visit verifications.
* Ability to adapt to constantly shifting priorities, schedules, and deadlines with little forewarning.
* Ability to experiment with and learn different processes, databases, and software packages quickly.
* Ability to develop professional interactive presentations that utilize charts and graphs that are created from data across multiple files and databases.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field
* Familiarity with oil and gas operations
