    Central Valley Indian Health, Inc. (CVIH) is seeking a compassionate, patient-focused Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). The LVN will perform duties within an outpatient Family Medicine setting with regular clinic hours Monday through Friday from 8-5. The LVN is responsible for onsite nursing care and administrative tasks related to patient health & education. This is a "Safety Sensitive" position, responsible for HIPAA compliance. Will perform duties at any of the CVIH Clinics as needed. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct Patient Care Services: A. 1. Provide direct patient care; make referrals, follow-ups and patient/family teaching. B. 2. Call in pharmaceutical orders and refills as requested by the attending physician. C. 3. Assist the medical receptionist in managing walk-in and appointment patients. D. 4. Prepare exam room and patient for medical services in accordance with medical protocols including vital signs, etc. E. 5. Obtain lab specimens, and performs in house lab tests, or prepares specimens for shipment to contract laboratory. F. 6. Perform all required tests and assessments required by CHDP, diabetic audit, GPRA and any other guidelines, as well as all CVIH policy and procedures. G. 7. Handle telephone triage under the direction of the RN or MD, in accordance with protocols. H. 8. Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA & CVIH policies and procedures. I. 9. Responsible for autoclaving/sterilizing maintaining inventory of equipment. J. 10. Perform in-house and/or send out testing and give appropriate vaccinations. Monitor patients post vaccine and provide education on side effects, what to expect, etc. Administrative Services K. 11. Responsible for drug and supply inventories and orders for exam rooms. Monitors for expired supplies, and carries out disposal procedures as is necessary. Responsible for storage and sterilize all instruments. L. 12. Participate in departmental QA activities in the absence of an RN. L. 13. Responsible for monitoring infection control and maintenance. M. 14. Communicate in a friendly and professional manner to others. Provide excellent service/support to all patients, employees, and outside contacts. N. 15. Any other duties assigned to the employee by the direct supervisor or CVIH Administration. Staff Supervision O. 16. Assist in instruction and supervision of medical assistants, as needed. Requirements 1. 1. Active CA LVN License & BLS certificate. 2. 2. Two years clinical experience in an outpatient setting is preferred. 3. 3. Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time, and kneel, squat, reach, and bend. 4. 4. Ability to carry or lift 30 lbs, and push or pull objects weighing 50 lbs. 5. 5. Must be able to communicate clearly to assess and educate patients, or those involved in patient care. 6. 6. Normal hearing (aids permitted) in order to perform physical assessments and detect critical information regarding patient condition. 7. 7. Vision is required within normal limits for administering injections, performing physical assessments, reading medical data. 8. 8. A valid California Driver's License and clean driving record with the ability to be insured under CVIH's automobile insurance. 9. 9. An awareness and keen appreciation of Indian traditions, customs, and socioeconomic needs. Ability to meet and deal effectively with Indian Health Organizations consisting of numerous tribes with varied cultures. Tact, courtesy, discretion, resourcefulness, and good judgement in handling functions of a sensitive nature. 10 10.
