Working Conditions The position requires the use of a computer for several hours each day. Work is primarily conducted from an office location however occasional field work will be required. As an Environmental Scientist you will have the opportunity to: * Act as a scientific liaison for laboratory services between ECL and other DTSC programs including but not limited to SMRP, HWMP, and SCP * Use scientific expertise and resources within the laboratory to respond to routine questions * Receive samples from DTSC program staff and external clients and logs samples into Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) while following and performing the functions as specified in the Laboratory Management System documents * Maintain the chain of custody for environmental samples, store samples upon completion of analysis and dispose of samples when approved by requestors * Support the lab in drafting and maintaining the documents and records required by the Laboratory Quality Management System * Review records and SOPs for effectiveness and efficiency and make recommendations for improvements Desirable Qualifications We Look For: * Experience working in an analytical chemistry laboratory * Chemistry or any related science courses taken is preferred * Experience working in a laboratory using the Quality Management System (QMS) * Experience with providing customer/client services You will find additional information about the job in the Duty Statement.
