Under the general supervision of the Principal and the direct supervision of the Supervisor of Academic Instruction (SAI), the Physical Education Teacher shall work closely with institution staff and incarcerated persons in developing and implementing a recreation program to meet institutional and incarcerated persons needs and in evaluating the program's effectiveness. This position provides planning, organization, and supervision of the Recreation/Physical Education Program of the Institution. The teacher shall develop a course outline for the program, including specific recreational activities that the incarcerated population may engage in on a monthly basis. The major portion of the teacher's time shall be devoted to individual and group instruction of incarcerated persons. This instruction shall cover a wide variety of recreational rules and regulations. The teacher shall give instruction to small and large groups while supervising incarcerated persons activities in the gymnasium or in the outdoor recreational area. The teacher will establish realistic goals/activities based on incarcerated persons needs/interests using incarcerated persons input. The goal is self-directed learning of the incarcerated persons. The teacher's tasks include planning, assigning, and supervising work; maintaining control and discipline; controlling all material and equipment; preparing instruction; participating in program evaluations; preventing escapes and injury by incarcerated persons to themselves or others or to property; inspecting premises and searching students for contraband; conduct fitness testing; and performing such ancillary duties as required.

Under the general supervision of the Correctional Case Records Supervisor, the Correctional Case Records Analyst prepares, maintains, interprets, and manages comprehensive incarcerated records on all persons committed to CDCR. Under general supervision of the Exposition Police Sergeant, Exposition Police Officers will perform the duties of an operational Peace Officer [Penal Code 830.3(r] at Exposition Park as well as during all other held and operated on the facility grounds. They patrol park grounds by vehicle, bicycle, and foot patrol; enforce park regulations and issue citations; write reports; make physical arrests for misdemeanors, felonies, and warrants; conduct criminal and administrative investigations; take command in emergencies; perform search and rescue activities; provide emergency medical assistance and aid; and may also perform traffic control and radio dispatching.
Incumbents are required to use protective equipment. The equipment includes various types of firearms, batons, chemical agents, and handcuffs. Incumbents are regularly trained and tested in physical defensive tactics and firearms use.

Working Conditions

Vaccination:
* In accordance with current California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Orders and/or Department of Social Serivces (DSS) PINs, workers in various health care settings, including those who work at Veterans Homes, must be vaccinated against COVID-19, including the booster vaccine, or submit a declination form.
Mandatory Testing:
* Staff who are not fully vaccinated or have submitted a declination form are subject to semi-weekly (twice per week) testing.
