The Department of State Hospitals Napa is seeking a Psychiatric Technician who is dedicated and enthusiastic about teaching adult learners. An individual who is able to teach Psychiatric Technician Trainees, Psychiatric Technician Apprentices, and Psychiatric Technician Students in a training course designed to prepare them as Psychiatric Technicians. Able to teach nonmedical and surgical nursing training to other hospital personnel. Other responsibilites include developing and implement training courses, evaluate training outcomes, keeps records and prepares reports as required. This includes New Employee Orientation, Annual Review Training, and other core courses as assigned. Use approved lesson plans and associated documentation to ensure consistent, standardized training when presenting. Conduct courses using multiple techniques such as videos, PowerPoint, handouts, charts, interactive exercises, teach back, role-play, etc. Also will routinely evaluate and review courses to ensure they are current, relevant, and meet hospital policies and outside regulatory agency requirements. The Stabilization Training Assistance Re-Integration (STAR) homes are staffed 24/7 and provide individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities experiencing an acute crisis, to live and learn in an environment that will enable them to successfully return home or transition to less restrictive living settings in the community. The staff within the home strive to empower individuals through person centered approaches to lead self-determined lives. STAR currently provides assistance to adolescents (11-17 years old) and adults (18 years of age and older) who are receiving regional center services. The STAR homes are four to five bed homes in community settings (Vacaville, Springville, and Costa Mesa).
