Incumbents in one of these classifications, where a Master's Degree is required to meet the minimum qualifications, shall receive an educational pay differential equivalent to 2% of their monthly base pay. The Senior Toxicologist serves as the Chief of the Cancer Toxicology and Epidemiology Section (CTES), within the Reproductive and Cancer Hazard Assessment Branch (RCHAB). CTES provides technical support for the implementation of the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (Proposition 65), including identifying chemicals for consideration for listing as carcinogens under Proposition 65, conducting dose-response and exposure assessments, and developing carcinogen risk assessment guidance and methodology. The New Toxicology Evaluations Section (NTES) at the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) provides essential information on the hazards and risks posed by chemicals in the environment and consumer products, as well as develop new and scientifically valid approaches for understanding chemical hazards. These evaluations may be used to establish guidance levels or priorities for chemicals in drinking water, air emissions, sport fish, waste sites, and emergency response actions, as well as safer substitutes for chemicals.
