California University of Science and Medicine (CUSM) is seeking a detail-oriented Project Coordinator to support the Advancing Research Integrity through Structured Education in the Inland Empire (ARISE-IE) initiative, a federally funded NIH project. Reporting to the Principal Investigator and working closely with the project team, this part-time role supports the day-to-day coordination, tracking, and evaluation support of activities. The Project Coordinator will help manage project logistics, support data collection and analysis, maintain compliant documentation, coordinate training sessions, and contribute to reporting and dissemination efforts. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate student with experience in research coordination, academic program administration, or training implementation to deepen their skills while contributing to a meaningful, high-impact initiative. The ideal candidate brings experience with research processes, data management, and program coordination; strong communication and organizational skills; and an ability to work collaboratively on a multi-disciplinary project.
This position is available immediately and will remain open until it is filled. The wage range is dependent on education, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience; the budgeted wage range is $28.85 to $31.00 per hour. The anticipated length of this assignment is from January 2026 to September 2026. Applicants must be able to work on campus.
Position Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator and in close collaboration with the project team, the Project Coordinator will support the day-to-day implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the Advancing Research Integrity through Structured Education in the Inland Empire (ARISE-IE) initiative, an NIH-funded grant. The coordinator will ensure that project activities are executed on time, with high fidelity to protocols, and in compliance with institutional and federal regulations.
This is a part-time position (25%), suitable for a graduate student with experience in research program coordination, training implementation, or academic administration.
Essential Function s
35% Project Coordination and Logistics
Manage day-to-day operations of the ARISE-IE project, including scheduling meetings, maintaining timelines, and tracking deliverables.
Organize and coordinate needs assessment activities, pilot training, and formative feedback sessions (e.g., surveys, focus groups, facilitator debriefs).
Support communication between team members, consultants, and institutional stakeholders through regular updates and meeting minutes.
Maintain version-controlled project documentation and monitor progress using a project dashboard.
35% Data Collection, Management, and Evaluation Support
Oversee administration of Microsoft 365 Forms surveys, pre/post assessments, and evaluation instruments.
Coordinate qualitative data collection activities (e.g., scheduling interviews, managing consent documentation, liaising with transcription services).
Perform data quality checks, support descriptive and basic inferential analysis in SPSS, and assist in NVivo coding for qualitative data.
Maintain secure and IRB-compliant data storage and ensure alignment with federal data protection standards.
20% Fidelity Monitoring and Training Implementation
Support facilitators in tracking training fidelity using standardized checklists.
Assist with logistics for hybrid training sessions, including troubleshooting during sessions.
Compile post-session participant evaluations and facilitator reflection forms; summarize feedback for iterative refinement cycles.
5% Dissemination and Reporting Support
Assist the PI in preparing quarterly internal reports, adaptation logs, and final deliverables for submissions to HHS/ORI.
Support preparation of dissemination materials, including policy briefs, slide decks, toolkits, and website updates.
Contribute to manuscript preparation and presentation materials as appropriate.

Required Educational Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in public health, social sciences, education, research administration, and a minimum of two (2) years of experience coordinating research, training, or academic programs; and/or equivalent experience/training may be considered.
Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of IRB processes and research data management standards.
Demonstrated knowledge of effective grant funding processes, procedures, and techniques.
Advanced proficiency with technology and software, including Microsoft Office Suite, MS Outlook/Teams, MS Forms, Zoom, SharePoint, and Adobe Sign.

California's outdoor recreation economy is the largest in the United States. According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, California's outdoor recreation activities led the nation in value, accounting for 2.1 percent of the state's GDP in 2023-approximately $81.5 billion, which encompassed more than 545,000 jobs and $38.1 billion in earnings. Activities include boating and fishing, cycling, climbing, hunting and shooting, winter snow sports, equestrian activities, recreational aviation, OHV/ATV use, recreational vehicles, and more. Sales of consumer goods, travel, and tourism expenses, as well as the cost of participating in outdoor recreational activities, all generate spending that contributes significantly to federal, state, and local tax revenue. This economic impact is particularly significant for rural gateway communities, where outdoor recreation and tourism-related activities comprise a substantial portion of local economic activity. Outdoor recreation economies are interconnected with multiple community domains, including strategic planning, workforce and economic development, infrastructure, small business support, housing, creative and knowledge economies, arts and culture, food and entertainment, youth development, and health and wellness.
The Specialist will balance opportunities and impacts of outdoor recreation and tourism, spanning infrastructure, natural resources, environmental stewardship, and sustainable, equitable economic development. With expertise across these domains and in facilitating collaborative approaches to community problem-solving, Cooperative Extension is well-positioned to help communities manage and leverage their outdoor recreation and tourism assets. This Specialist will work in a unique role at the intersection of community economic development and outdoor recreation and tourism through an innovative research and extension program. In collaboration with academics, public agencies, and partners from the non-profit and private sectors, they will build capacity across California to foster outdoor recreation and tourism opportunities, as well as their benefits to local economies. The Specialist will work closely with UC ANR's Community Economic Development Program Area to develop statewide and local plans for sustainably enhancing California's outdoor recreation and tourism industries.
UC Cooperative Extension (UCCE) Specialists develop and conduct research and educational programs tailored to specific clientele groups in communities outside of UC campuses. UCCE Specialists have programs primarily focused on mission-oriented research or creative work that supports the university's efforts to extend knowledge, including outreach and community engagement. Mission-oriented research encompasses the entire research continuum, extending from basic research to the application of research results. This research is generally applied in nature and has as its goal finding solutions to problems facing society that are related to the mission of the UCCE Specialist's discipline and the UCCE mission. UCCE Specialists publish the results of applied research in a combination of peer-reviewed publications and stakeholder-facing materials, including refereed journals, technical reports, and white papers, tailored to the needs of the audiences their programs serve.
The extension program disseminates knowledge and information to clientele groups to help them better understand and address problems and opportunities they face. The extension educational program serves the University's public service mission. Educational program activities include, but are not limited to, collaborations with UCCE Advisors, other UCCE Specialists, campus faculty, program teams, workgroups, or clientele groups; developing and presenting educational materials; communicating to clientele through broadcast, print, or electronic media; participating in meetings with clientele; developing and presenting in-service training courses; organizing or participating in workshops, field tours, symposia or conferences. Much of this work is conducted in partnership with UC ANR's locally based UCCE Advisors. The UCCE Specialist - Advisor and faculty partnership creates an applied research network that benefits both the University and the public at large. This position does not include formal classroom instruction at the University.
Location Headquarters. The Specialist will be based at the UC ANR headquarters, at 2801 2nd Street in Davis, CA, with the potential to explore opportunities at the Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development (Go-Biz) headquarters in Sacramento, CA.
Position Details
This position will provide critical technical support to enhance community and economic development research, planning, and project implementation related to outdoor recreation and sustainable tourism.
Major duties and responsibilities include:
Develop and implement a collaborative research, education, and outreach program to build and strengthen California's outdoor recreation and tourism economy.
Conduct applied research on topics such as:
o Best practices in Destination Management and sustainable tourism strategies
o Develop toolkits, case studies, and other tools that communities can use to maximize their outdoor recreation and tourism opportunities for collaborative partnerships, infrastructure, small business, and workforce development
o Innovative public and private financing and policy mechanisms for outdoor recreation infrastructure and small business development, community and economic development incentives and land use practices, community benefits, workforce development, and other measures
o Develop economic, workforce, visitor and tourism profiles and data tools and strategic planning methods to support local planning collaboratives, set baselines and track progress
Provide research and data support for local partners to create baseline and performance assessments of economic, community, and environmental indicators that support understanding of tourism and visitor activities and profiles, industry and business conditions, outdoor recreation infrastructure and stakeholder assets, labor and workforce conditions, and environmental and natural resources impacts in the context of sustainable recreation and tourism.
Develop and support strategic planning and capacity to implement sustainable recreation and tourism development projects, working with multiple community partners, state and federal agencies (particularly land managers and parks), private sector partners like Chambers of Commerce and Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) and industry associations, educational institutions, and community-based organizations, like outdoor recreation user groups and advocacy organizations.
Work with tribal partners, Latino communities, and other underrepresented communities as partners in planning for sustainable recreation and tourism.
Support fund development, grantmaking, incentives, and policy measures that promise to enhance regional business activity, improve quality of life (including placemaking, arts and creative economy, main street revitalization), and mitigate environmental impacts that result from activities in the tourism and recreation economy.
Extend knowledge on outdoor recreation and tourism through different modalities and approaches, which may include extension publications, newsletters, web pages, blogs, policy briefs, UCCE Advisor meetings, on-site visits to partner locations, and clientele workshops.
Collaborate with UCCE Advisors and Specialists, UC ANR statewide programs, institutes, program teams and the newly established Outdoor Recreation Institute to develop statewide and local plans for developing California's outdoor recreation and tourism industries.
Publish in relevant UCANR outlets and external peer-reviewed journals appropriate for the field of outdoor recreation.
Counties of Responsibility: This statewide position will support California communities and their outdoor recreation and tourism economies. This is an exciting opportunity to impact diverse stakeholders throughout the state.
Reporting Relationship: UC ANR will oversee the merit and promotion process, consistent with other UC ANR CE Specialists. It is not a remote position; the candidate must be available to work onsite at the UC ANR headquarters in Davis, CA.
Qualifications and Skills Required
Education: A minimum of a Ph.D. (or international equivalent) in community economic development, business, tourism and recreation, outdoor recreation, economics, public administration, public policy, urban planning, rural sociology, landscape architecture, natural resource management, environmental studies, or a closely related field is required at the time of appointment. Applicants who have not yet earned a Ph.D. must be within 12 months of completing their degree to be considered for the position.

At least two years of professional experience in program administration and with multi-stakeholder partnerships

The incumbent applies advanced data analytics, programming, and data integration skills to extract, clean, and analyze large and complex financial datasets from multiple enterprise sources.
This role will collaborate with Resource Planning and Management, Financial Services, IT, and administrative teams to customize and implement applications that enhance financial reporting, budgeting, and operational efficiency. Purpose:
The Irrigation and Nutrient Management Education Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, developing, and delivering educational programs on irrigation and nutrient management for growers, irrigators, and farm workers in the Central Coast region of California. This position provides objective information about irrigation and nutrient management and promotes sound decision making to reduce nutrient leaching and runoff. This position serves as the Irrigation and Nutrient Management Education Program Coordinator in the Central Coast region of California interacting with regional regulators, outreach and service providers including but not limited to Regional Water Quality Control Board, Water Quality Coalitions, RCDs, and growers, irrigators, and farm workers. The Coordinator assists the Central Coast farming community with their educational and technical assistance needs related to irrigation and nutrient management. In addition, the Coordinator supports train-the-trainer needs of individuals who must train field workers and irrigators.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The Academic Coordinator will:
Coordinate UCCE one-on-one technical assistance to farmers on the Central Coast to evaluate irrigation system efficiency and provide diagnostics, reports and recommendations to growers.
Coordinate outreach and educational efforts such as field days, extension workshops, tailgate meetings, demonstration sites, social media, webinars, and video recordings.
Prepare English/Spanish webinar training curriculum and training materials for annual irrigation and nutrient management workshops.
Prepare in-person training curriculum and training materials for annual irrigation and nutrient management workshops offered in Mandarin.
Prepare in-person training curriculum and training materials for annual Crop Manage workshops.
Prepare and translate electronic newsletters on irrigation and nutrient management topics into Spanish and coordinate translation into Mandarin.
Develop and translate educational factsheets on irrigation and nutrient management into Spanish and coordinate translation into Mandarin.
Work with project team and lead efforts to develop an irrigation and nutrient management resources website.
Prepare high quality written and attractive materials including: proposals and grant reports; program and project impact statements; blog posts, reports, briefings, executive summaries, and brochures; and posters and presentations.

Position Overview
The University of California, Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) invites applications for a UC Cooperative Extension (UCCE) Area Advisor at the Assistant rank. The Advisor will develop an innovative multi-county applied research and extension education program supporting the large citrus industry in Tulare, Fresno, and Madera Counties.
The Advisor will develop problem-solving and educational programs for high-priority production issues related to climate and drought resilience in citrus, including warmer temperatures, decreased water availability, and decreased water quality. Research and extension solutions may include rootstock and cultivar selection, irrigation and soil management, and emerging innovative farming practices. Additionally, the incumbent will work on horticultural solutions to production challenges, integrating research and expertise from colleagues in agricultural engineering, irrigation, plant pathology, and entomology to address concerns such as limited and increasingly expensive inputs (labor, water, nutrients, etc.), the threat of huanglongbing disease (HLB), and other emerging pests and diseases. One of the most pressing concerns for citrus growers in the region is the implementation of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA), which is reshaping how water is allocated and used. The advisor will help growers navigate the evolving water landscape while protecting crop productivity and quality.
UCCE Advisors are responsible for applied research and extension of knowledge. Research activities are applied, needs-based, and mission-oriented, focusing on addressing the challenges in our communities. Extension activities are the educational practices that Advisors use to share research results directly with clientele and communities to increase their knowledge and understanding of science-based research that supports and promotes the adoption of practices and technologies to solve problems. Extension methods may include individual consultations, presentations, organizing educational workshops and short courses, field demonstrations, farm visits, and site visits. Information may also be disseminated via radio outreach, webinars, fact sheets, policy briefs, news blogs, and social media. Publications are expected in various formats, such as newsletters, articles for the popular press, curricula, conference proceedings, and peer-reviewed publications. Successful research and extension programs result in new information that improves knowledge or understanding and adoption of new skills, practices, changed attitudes, policies, and improved environmental, health, agricultural, economic, and/or social conditions. UCCE Advisors are evaluated through an academic advancement system based on four criteria: extending knowledge, applied research and creative activity, professional competence and activity, and university and public service.

Position Details
Sustaining citrus production in Tulare, Fresno, and Madera Counties is critical to the area's citrus growers, many of whom are small-scale family farmers. The three-county region represents approximately 58% of California's citrus acreage, adding billions to the area's economy, including thousands of jobs. Citrus is a high-value crop with potential to sustain rural agricultural economies in the decades to come. However, citrus crops face challenges that require local, on-the-ground, research-based solutions. The Advisor will conduct applied research on topics relevant to the citrus industry, based on a clientele needs assessment and the Advisor's expertise. Examples of potential research topics include:
Cultivar and rootstock development
High-density training systems and mechanical harvesting
Improved management of water resources in the face of increased drought and implementation of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act
Strategies to improve the HLB resilience of citrus trees through plant nutrition, irrigation management, the use of plant growth regulators, and resistant cultivars and rootstocks
Climate-smart practices, including innovations in irrigation technology and improving soil-water-plant interactions
Research objectives should emphasize the development of orchard systems that conserve resources in compliance with state air and water regulations. Research results and knowledge are expected to be published in various UC ANR series, technical sheets, commodity board reports, and peer-reviewed journals.
The Advisor will conduct outreach to provide science-based information through workshops, field meetings, webinars, newsletters, industry and media outlets, phone calls, and online and social media tools, as appropriate for the target audiences. Extension efforts will need to cover basic information for small acreage and new growers, as well as cutting-edge information for more experienced growers.
In this highly collaborative role, the Advisor will work with UC ANR Program Teams, UCCE Specialists, and others in the UC ANR network, as well as external partners such as growers, industry organizations such as California Citrus Mutual, and local farm bureaus.
Counties of Responsibility. This position has programmatic responsibilities for citrus production in Tulare, Fresno, and Madera Counties.
Reporting Relationship: In this appointment, the incumbent will report directly to the UC Cooperative Extension Area Director for Kern, Kings, and Tulare Counties, with input from the Director of the Fresno/Madera Cooperative Extension unit. It is not a remote position; the candidate must be available to work onsite at the headquarters location in Tulare, CA, and travel to and be present in all counties served. Specific expectations for maintaining office hours and fieldwork in the geographic area covered by this position will be outlined upon hire by the supervisor(s).

Salary & Benefits
Salary: The salary range for this Cooperative Extension Advisor position is Assistant Rank, Step I ($85,600) to Step VI ($108,600). Step placement in the Advisor series is based on applicable experience and professional qualifications. The University of California, Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) is seeking a UC Cooperative Extension (UCCE) Area Director to provide leadership in support of applied research and outreach programs across the Central Sierra multi-county partnership (Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado and Tuolumne counties) and Alpine county. UCCE is administered by the University of California, Division of Agriculture Natural Resources. UCCE brings the knowledge of University of California research through its agriculture, natural resources, youth development and nutrition programs to address local questions and to help solve local problems. UCCE academics, staff, and volunteers live and work in the communities they serve, helping identify, respond to, and resolve local challenges. UC ANR connects Californians to UC, leading the way to science-based solutions.
The UCCE teams in Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, and Tuolumne Counties are comprised of committed, competent, and self-directed academics and staff. Their integration and orientation with local communities and clientele are strengths that contribute to overall program success and impact. The Area Director will have the exciting opportunity to support and advance ANR's mission by working collaboratively with these team members, as they develop and deliver research and extension programming. Additionally, the Area Directors will develop a relationship with Alpine County decision makers to extend, enhance and secure on-going relationships to bring UCCE programs to their residents.
Purpose: The Area Director is responsible for the coordination and overall operation of UCCE programs in cooperation with county governments in Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado and Tuolumne counties, and in the future with Alpine county.
Responsibilities:
Act as a liaison between UCCE, Boards of Supervisors and County Administrative Officers as appropriate.
Serve as the chair of the University of California Cooperative Extension Central Sierra MCP Advisory Council. Hold twice yearly meetings of this Advisory Council.
Secure county budgets and resources that grow UCCE presence and efforts in the region.
Build relationships and synergies to deploy UCCE research to address regional needs.
Supervision and/or oversight of UCANR employees.
Understand and communicate value of UCCE impact to county partners and others.
Oversight and administration of UCCE educational and applied research programs.
Hire and manage personnel.
Provide direction and leadership to UCCE academic and support staff.
Mentor, manage and evaluate academic personnel.
Supervision of UC ANR employees.
Maintain positive working relationships with partnering public and private agencies.
Expand collaborations and funding sources.
Comply with University of California and county policies.

They will increase the visibility of UCCE through community engagement, including but not limited to, needs assessments, representing UC ANR in local and/or regional initiatives, participation in relevant policy development, and communicating the positive impacts and benefits realized by the citizens and workforce of the local counties, region and state from the activities and contributions of local UCCE programs.

Strong background in management, administration or similar experience including, but not limited to, business operations, budget and fiscal management, human resources, conflict resolution, multidisciplinary teams, project management, facilities planning, etc.

The Environmental Horticulture Advisor is responsible for educational and applied research programs covering a wide array of disciplines for Marin, Napa, and Sonoma Counties. Challenges faced in all three counties include maintaining water quality and supply, efficiently disposing of and recycling green waste, and reducing pesticide use in the face of an increasingly urbanized population of plant diseases and pests that impact the ecosystems and economies of the three-county area.
UCCE Advisors are responsible for conducting applied research and extending knowledge. Research activities are applied and mission-oriented, focused on addressing challenges in our communities. Extension activities are the educational methods that Advisors use to share research results directly with clientele and communities, increasing knowledge and understanding of science-based research that promotes the adoption of practices and technologies to solve local problems. Extension activities may include individual farm consultations, presentations, or organizing educational workshops, short courses, and field demonstrations. Information may also be disseminated through various channels, such as radio, webinars, fact sheets, policy briefs, news blogs, social media, and other outlets. Publications are expected in various formats, including newsletters, articles for the popular press, curricula, conference proceedings, and peer-reviewed journals.
Successful research and extension programs result in new information that improves knowledge or understanding, and eventual adoption of new skills or practices, changed attitudes or policies, and improved environmental, economic, or social conditions. UCCE Advisors are evaluated through an academic advancement system based on four criteria: 1) extending knowledge, 2) applied research and creative activity, 3) professional competence and activity, and 4) university and public service.

Position Details
The Environmental Horticulture Advisor conducts collaborative extension education and applied research programs in Marin, Napa, and Sonoma Counties, in collaboration with other University/UCANR academics, staff, and local stakeholders. Research and education topics for this position cover a wide array of disciplines categorized under the heading of environmental horticulture, such as arboriculture, integrated pest management (including plant pathology, entomology, and invasive weeds), horticulture, soils, green waste recycling, irrigation, and residential defensible space for fire. Solutions are focused on community-oriented goals, including efforts to protect California's natural resources, build more resilient communities and landscapes, and develop a more qualified landscaping workforce in the Bay Area.
The Advisor supports a broad array of commercial tree care and landscape design and maintenance clientele to address local landscape and environmental needs and threats. They also collaborate and partner with professional organizations, local agency and government personnel, conservation groups, and other non-governmental organizations with information via consultation, technology transfer, communication, and liaison activities This position also assumes academic oversight for the UC Marin and Napa Master Gardener Programs, with an aim toward expanded understanding of science-based environmental horticulture practices for area property owners and managers. By collaborating with local stakeholders and UC ANR staff, the Environmental Horticulture Advisor provides information to support workable solutions for key environmental issues faced by governments, businesses, and residents in Marin, Napa, and Sonoma counties.
Counties of Responsibility.
This position will serve Marin, Napa, and Sonoma Counties.
Reporting Relationship:
In this appointment, you will report directly to the UC Cooperative Extension Area Director for Marin, Napa, and Sonoma Counties, with input from the Director of the Master Gardener Statewide Program. This is not a remote position; the candidate must be available to work onsite at the headquarters location and travel to and be present in all three counties served. Upon hire, the supervisor will outline specific expectations for maintaining office hours and fieldwork in the geographic area covered by this position.
Qualifications and Skills Required
Education:
A minimum of a master's degree in horticulture, plant pathology, entomology, or a related field is required at the time of appointment.

Experience in conducting applied, impact-oriented research and education in topics related to environmental horticulture.

The primary responsibility of this position of, Director of Operations is to provide oversight and supervision of the day-to-day activities and ensure smooth operations within the College of Medicine (COM). Under the direction of the Dean, the incumbent is responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating the business operations functions, including budgeting, procurement, academic services, human resources, office activities, IT, space and events,consultant/contractor agreements, vendor management, facilities coordination, and event planning.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Human Resources:
Supervise and train administrative staff and work-study students in the COM on CDU policies and proprietary
Generate position requisitions in accordance with University policy
Monitor and track the hiring lifecycle in collaboration with the University's Office of Human Resources
Serve as liaison between COM and the University's Office of Human Resources
Vendor/Contractor Relations:
Initiate and execute vendor/consultant contracts, source & procure vendors, target, identity, screen, and recruit prospective contractor/vendor partners.
Partner with CDU Legal, Finance, Risk Management & Human Resources to execute consulting agreements
Solicit bids for major projects
Evaluate vendor qualifications to ensure they meet contractual obligations and maintain compliance with University policy
Responsible for invoice development, management, and processing
Event Coordination:
Supervise coordinators and other responsible persons in managing COM events including planning, meeting deadlines, and budget demands
Nurture and build relationships with vendors, venues and other industry contacts to craft and implement creative and logistical aspects of all events.
Research resources, make site visits and facilitate pre and post-event meetings
Manage logistics for all events including contract negotiations, guests list, venue preparation, presentation materials, security, catering, entertainment, transportation, equipment, décor and marketing materials
Evaluate the event's success and prepare reports
Administration and Facilities:
Coordinate activities related to strategic priorities for the Dean's Office, such as the creation of new departments, institutes and centers

As a core Community Nutrition and Health statewide program, the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) provides community education classes for income-eligible youth and adults, which promote nutrition and physical activity as a means of maintaining a healthy lifestyle free from chronic disease. By focusing on improving diet quality, increasing physical activity, assuring safe food-handling practices, and strengthening food resource management skills, EFNEP supports families with children to make meaningful healthy lifestyle changes. EFNEP also partners with community stakeholders to make changes to the surrounding community context, known as "policy, system, and environmental change efforts" which result in deeper, long-term positive impact for even more youth and families. EFNEP is federally funded by the United States Department of Agriculture as part of a long-standing network of community-based nutrition education programs across the country.

This position's primary foci are to conduct, manage, and evaluate a nutrition education program to create a healthier school and community environment.
The Community Education Specialist 2 position will perform the full range of program implementation duties. Incumbent will coordinate, manage, and deliver nutrition education with community-based adults and/or youth in partnership with local public health and community organizations. This includes training, guiding, and supporting schoolteachers who volunteer to support health education in their classes by providing them with education, information and resources; evaluating program implementation; collecting and compiling enrollment information, assuring proper documentation, collecting evaluation data from teachers and participants; performing data entry for reporting; and writing reports in compliance with funding requirements.
The Community Education Specialist 2 will build and maintain an informal network of partners, align nutrition education projects with approved curricula and educational materials, develop news releases and news articles, and maintain knowledge and competence about the subject matter.
This position is a career appointment that is 100% fixed.
Pay Scale: $24.76/hour to $32.90/hour.

Deliver in-person lessons in English and Spanish using adult and/or youth engagement techniques in alignment with the UC-approved curricula and activities at various locations across the county. Lesson delivery includes preparing and implementing activities such as demonstrating food preparation using recipes, physical activity, gardening techniques, and/or other learner-centered activities.
Extend education to community partners and/or program participants on using the skills and knowledge they gained in class to recommend positive changes within their working and living environments. Advocate for changes in the surrounding community context known as "policy, system, and environmental change efforts" designed to create a healthier community environment.

Recruit, train, and provide support for community organizations and school representatives who act as volunteers to deliver UC-approved curricula and activities in English and Spanish. May participate in hiring and recruitment for other educator positions. May co-deliver programming with a partner to model class enrollment procedures, lesson delivery, and evaluation activities.
Review evaluation data when completed by volunteers to ensure the minimum evaluation requirements are achieved. Make recommendations to volunteers to ensure participant success. Complete required documentation of enrollment and evaluation for reporting purposes. Prepares all reports as necessary for documenting program accomplishments.
May provide language translations of class materials and/or simultaneous interpretation during classes into preferred language of participant population, as well as develop and share culturally relevant examples to enhance the effectiveness of the educational experience.

Meet with local partners (i.e., community leaders, school administrators, teachers, parent educators) to discuss the delivery of lessons to their students and clientele. Assist in developing outreach plans to ensure all eligible racial/ethnic groups have received information regarding program education opportunities and are welcomed to participate with inclusive program practices.
Develop collaboration with other programs to coordinate outreach efforts. Attend community events and serve as representative and ambassador for the program. Maintain appropriate records to track the partnership activity, collaboration, and related community events.

Work as a team member to develop annual work plans, manage volunteers, share recommendations for improvement, and coach partner agencies to make healthy changes in their organizations.
May provide leadership and mentoring to interns, new staff, volunteers, and/or other educators, including working with them to assess the successes and challenges of lesson delivery.
Requirements:
Associate degree and/or equivalent experience/training in a related area such as nutrition, public health, or community health and well-being.
Continuing education, training, or professional development in a related field.
Knowledge of community education, community engagement, teaching, and/or facilitation best practices.
Proficient in the use of Windows-based computers with knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Experience working with a diverse youth, adult, and/or volunteers, including diversity in age, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, and/or physical and ability/disability.
Experience working with underserved populations.
Familiarity with schools and community-based agencies in the local area serving lower-income youth and adults.
Thorough and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and presentation skills to work in large and small groups, give presentations, and organize activities. Ability to write newsletters, correspondence, and reports.
Bilingual communication/translation abilities in English and Spanish.

Special Conditions of Employment:

Must possess valid California Driver's License to drive a County or University vehicle. Ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule as needed, proof of liability damage insurance on vehicle used is required. Position Purpose
Under the supervision of the Standardized Patient Educator, the Standardized Patient (SP) simulates/models the role of a patient by portraying scenarios to enhance medical students' clinical skills. Physical examination of SP's entire body by medical students and physicians is required, with the exception of rectal, pelvic, genital, female breast, and corneal reflex examinations. This role is part-time and scheduled on an as-needed basis.
Helpful Information:
This position's work hours and frequency is anticipated to be 0-6 hrs/week. We are seeking applicants who are available to work on Mondays from 12:30pm-4:00pm and Wednesdays from 8:30am-12:00pm. SPs are scheduled at least 6 weeks ahead of a scheduled shift and there is an opportunity to fill last-minute open shifts. There may be opportunities to fill shifts on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00am-4:00pm as needed.
Candidates selected to move forward in the interview process must be available to attend a recruitment event on the California University of Science and Medicine campus in Colton, CA, in late November 2025.
Essential Function s
Simulate a real patient for a patient interview, be a model for physical examination, or both.
Wear a hospital gown with only undergarments underneath, while on camera and/or observed live through an observation window or video monitor for educational and training purposes. Videos may be used to train other SPs.
Provide written and oral constructive feedback to medical students.
Prepare and memorize the script ahead of the learning session.
Participate in ongoing training sessions to improve portrayal and rating skills.
Responsible for bringing all case-related materials to training.
Maintain a clean work area, including but not limited to “turning over” the exam rooms: change pillowcases, clean exam table with a sterile wipe, change table paper, bring in the computer from the hallway and plug it in, and remove all extra paper or other items left in the room.
Responsible for keeping track of scheduled workdays and hours.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Educational Qualifications
Advanced proficiency in oral Spanish.
High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Skills and Abilities
Ability to portray a person other than themselves effectively and consistently in a standardized way.
Ability to follow rules and procedures.
Ability to have comfort with own personal health, so that it does not interfere with the patient being portrayed.
Demonstrate objective interaction with and rating examinees of all backgrounds.
Excellent reading and writing skills to absorb and use the detailed case training and exam procedural information.
Excellent recall in order to rate (feedback) the examinees.
Interpersonal skills when interacting with other employees.
As a Standardized Patient, the SP cannot display any physical health conditions that may contradict the assigned case.
