Responsible for overseeing the functions and activities associated with Community Outreach Services, Admitting, and Intake. Reports directly to the Vice President for Admitting, Intake and Outreach Services and maintains an open dialogue with the senior leadership of the hospital and referring partners.
Role/Function
Continuously monitors and assesses the delivery of services provided by the Community Outreach, Admitting and Intake implementing changes when appropriate.
Acts as liaison between Calvary Hospital and referring institutions and providers.
Actively engages in the ongoing marketing of programs and services provided by Calvary Hospital.
Works cooperatively with other departments, provider referrers and managed care organizations to facilitate the admission of patients to the various programs provided by Calvary Hospital.
Interfaces with managed care organizations to facilitate reimbursement for services provided by the Hospital. Oversees the appeals process for those cases for which reimbursement has been denied.
Conducts interdepartmental meetings related to the quality and utilization of clinical services.
Serves on various Hospital committees as assigned.
Attends meetings and seminars as appropriate.
Ensures all related manuals are kept current.
Works within legal, ethical practice standards to his/her position as well as Calvary's Code of Conduct. Complies with appropriate policies and procedures and brings potential compliance matters to supervisor or compliance officer.

Staff/Performance
Oversees and participates in the budget process for his/her assigned departments.
Completes Introductory and Annual Performance Appraisals for all direct reports. Reviews Introductory and Annual Performance Appraisals for other assigned staff.
Oversees the interface with the Finance Office regarding pertinent insurance information, e.g. Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross, and Commercial Insurance.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Safety
Elicits recommendations regarding continuous improvement of patient safety from staff.
Encourages reporting of occurrences without fear of reprisal.
Participates in the development of recommendations for improvement in patient safety based on staff recommendations.
Participates in the implementation and monitoring of patient safety program.

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Director of Employee Health to champion a thriving, inclusive, and engaging workplace culture. Utilizing Calvary's patient care standards, geriatric standards of care, and within the New York State Nurse Practice Act plans, coordinates and is responsible for the daily operation and delivery of care in the Employee Health Services Department; provides urgent care to all Calvary Hospital employees, volunteers and visitors as a certified Nurse Practitioner, and serves as the nursing coordinator of the emergency management program. Clinical performance of the NP is monitored and reviewed by the Chief Medical Officer.
Duties
Responsible for safekeeping of all medications, emergency equipment, supplies and required documentation for areas of responsibility.
Responsible for proper functioning and maintenance of equipment and supplies necessary for efficient operations in Employee Health.
Through hospital-wide rounds and other verbal and written communication, makes frequent contact with all administrators, managers and staff throughout the hospital system including Calvary at Home and the Brooklyn satellite, eliciting recommendations regarding continuous improvement from staff.
Encourages reporting of occurrences without fear of reprisal. Reviews staff and visitor occurrences to identify potential safety issues and trends; reports finding to the Environment of Care (EOC) committee and to the appropriate manager or administrator to prevent future similar occurrences.
Defines goals, objectives and outcomes for areas of responsibility; evaluating care delivery and processes to ensure optimal functioning of these departments.
Develops and administers the operating and capital budget for areas of responsibility.
Complies with all regulatory agencies including OSHA, The Joint Commission, NYSDOH, and NYCDOHMH, utilizing their standards to develop and implement policies and procedures related to Employee Health for the hospital system. Also provides guidance and expertise to all departments in the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures for their areas.
Plans, supervises, conducts and coordinates activities to assure compassionate and competent care as well as regulatory compliance. Evaluates systems and processes to improve and enhance the quality of care in Employee Health.
Counsels and disciplines staff in matters pertaining to department/hospital policy and procedure, patient care, performance, problem solving and decision-making; documents all interventions.
Assesses the learning needs of all hospital staff providing them with the appropriate orientation and ongoing education related to Employee Health including wellness promotion activities, and health teaching via written and verbal communication.
Participates in various committees and sub-committees ensuring that reports are prepared as required; co-chairs the Surveillance, Prevention and Control of Infections Committee.
Responsible for Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement activities related to assigned areas. Provides expertise and utilizes performance improvement tools to identify indicators and improve care and practice related to areas of responsibility.
Requirements
Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse and Nurse Practitioner with a Master's degree by the New York State Board of Nursing.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ALCS) Certification preferred or in progress.
Five years Medical/Surgical experience. Prior occupational health experience preferred.
Current certification as an Occupational Health Nurse Specialist (COHN-S) preferred or in progress.
Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
Demonstrates critical thinking skills with the ability to take initiative and function autonomously.
