The Accounting Services service line partners with middle market companies to provide outsourced accounting functions.
The Onboarding Manager will have responsibility for the successful integration of new clients. This role will oversee the onboarding process, including reviewing financials, managing any accounting clean up and adjustments, setting up initial documentation and processes, and coordinating closely with client throughout. In addition, the onboarding process will often involve system conversions and process implementation. This role will work with a variety of different industries and accounting issues and will work with some clients requiring extensive catch up, clean up, and cash to accrual conversion or implementation of GAAP. Strong project management skills are necessary, including scheduling resources, creating and monitoring check lists and project plans for multiple projects, and maintaining the actual costs incurred to budget.
The candidate should have experience performing aspects of a robust month end close process as well as experience in a professional/client service role.
Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting
CPA license or plans to obtain
6-8 years total experience in accounting, with experience in a professional services role

POSITION DESCRIPTION
This organization is seeking a Controller who is accountable for the accounting operations of the organization, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the reported financial results and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. This position also would entail analysis and forecasting of the financial position of the church. This position reports to the Senior Executive Director, who reports to the Senior Pastor.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Management
Participate in the management of accounting and finance personnel
Develop and plan department objectives, with the Executive Pastor and staff, including short and long-term accounting projects to improve budgeting and accounting processes and systems
Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives
Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures

Job Duties:
Tax Compliance
Ensures both that (a) clients comply with all applicable authorities, while at the same time minimizing their tax and reporting burdens, and (b) self and client service teams comply with all Firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual (“TQM”)
Effectively uses referencing system and workpapers that ties to the return
Completes tasks and organizes file to minimize rework by reviewer

Takes initiative on impending due dates/engagement letters
Works with tax software applications to complete simple tax returns for review
Performs quarterly estimates and prepares extensions
Assists with responses to notices from the Internal Revenue Service

Correctly and proactively applies Firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual (TQM) regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48

Assists with developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective methods to maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing clients' current and future taxes
Operates online research tools to gather pertinent tax information
Monitors tax law and client factual developments on a regular basis, daily or weekly but at least bi-weekly
Develops and communicates to client service team personnel, viewpoints regarding how those developments might affect clients
