CAMBA operates 6 single adult shelters and 6 family shelters and one drop in center. Each shelter offers clients a supportive, structured therapeutic, safe, and drug-free facility. Homeless (often mentally-ill and substance-abusing) men and women are provided with comprehensive services to stabilize their condition in order to successfully transition into to permanent and/or supported housing.
CAMBA's Magnolia House located in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn serves 200 single women at any given time. The majority of these clients are diagnosed with mental illness, some dually with chemical addictions as well.
Position: Recreation Coordinator

What the Recreation Coordinator Does:
Maintain professional relationships with clients and client confidentiality.
Organize and lead therapeutic/recreational/ADL activities to enhance the social development of individual group members.
Teach physical education, arts, music, or drama.
Plan and organize activities to maximize program contract's goals and performance targets.
Design and produce aesthetic visuals for public spaces of the shelter which reflect cultural, seasonal and programmatic themes.
Communicate effectively with clients, direct reporting staff, peers, supervisors, and funders.
Plan, coordinate and facilitate social/peer support events, including group facilitation for clients.
Minimum Education/Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree (e. g., B.A., B.S.W.) and two years of applicable experience and/or equivalent experience. Licensed Master's degree in Art Therapy preferred. (A license is required of these Master's Degrees: Social Work (LMSW or LCSW), Mental Health Counseling, Counseling/Guidance, Art Therapy).
Compensation:$64,000-$67,000 annually

Program Description: Learning to Work (LTW) for Transfer Schools Program at Edward Reynolds West Side High School provides students over-aged and under-credited ages 16 -21 with services and opportunities to foster engagement through academic and personal development that lead to earning a high school diploma. Primary goals include getting students to graduate with realistic and meaningful post-secondary plans, gain knowledge and skills that will increase the employability and awareness of post-high school opportunities available to them. Using the Primary Person Model, each student has an LTW Staff Member as a support to minimize and/or remove barriers toward graduation including engaging students in college preparation, and meaningful career exploration including subsidized internships, academic and personal support services to increase self-direction and self-sufficiency.

Position Summary: The Stanley M. Reporting to the Interim Manager of Health and Human Services, the Career Services Coordinator will build and maintain relationships with employers to ensure that participants find stability and success on the job, and work in collaboration with the Education and Workforce teams and the Career and Alumni Services Hub (CASH) to boost participant earnings over time. The Career Services Coordinator is primarily responsible for providing disconnected young adults, ages 17- 24, with access to internships and employment opportunities within labor market sectors that are expanding in New York City.
