Cambridge College company history timeline

1971

Cambridge College had its beginnings as an innovative graduate program created by Eileen Moran Brown and Joan Goldsmith in the newly created Institute of Open Education (IOE) in 1971 formed by John Bremer at Newton College of the Sacred Heart.

1979

In 1979, Brown began the 18-month process of elevating the graduate program to an independent, fully accredited institution that was named Cambridge College.

1988

Freeman’s later work centred on a collaboration that began in 1988 with Australian astronomer Joss Bland-Hawthorn.

Christopher Brooke, a medievalist of world renown, now tackles a period in modern history, following his recently-published David Knowles Remembered and his history of Gonville and Caius College (1988)

2000

He spent the rest of his career there, becoming Duffield Professor of Astronomy in 2000.

2014

Freeman and Bland-Hawthorn became principal investigators on GALAH—which began in 2014 and would use the HERMES spectrograph on the Anglo-Australian Telescope at Siding Spring to collect high-resolution spectra of one million stars.

2017

In 2017, Cambridge College consolidated its four locations in Cambridge into a single campus in the Hood Office Park in Charlestown, a neighborhood of Boston.

2020

In March 2020, Cambridge College acquired the New England College of Business and Finance, renaming it the New England Institute of Business at Cambridge College.

In 2020, NEIB determined that it could better serve its students and its corporate partners by becoming part of the larger Cambridge College Global which, like NEIB, is highly committed to the adult learner.
