5.0 Responsibilities
As instructed by the Laboratory Department and under the strict guidelines described in the Corporate manuals:
• Maintain regular contact with the Laboratory Department in order to deliver and samples.
• Possess and maintain a vehicle in order to perform duties in a timely manner.
• Operate vehicle in a safe manner.
6.0 Fitness for Duty - Physical Demands
Workday may consist of 8-12 hours; however, this can vary day to day or shift to shift. Some of the retain work is performed outdoors, wearing full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and could include possible exposure to high and low temperatures for prolonged duration of time. Some of the work is performed indoors or in a truck under climate-controlled conditions.

• Ensures all lab staff has adequate resources to perform all aspects of work required.
• Ensures all lab staff are adequately trained to safely perform all required job functions and that competency records are maintained.
• Ensures compliance with all corporate policy procedures in the laboratory.
• Assists Lab Manager regarding sales, profits, costs and expenses to meet/ exceed budgeted financial expectations for the laboratory.
• Provides employee motivation and champions the Quality system, including SQC, Calibrations, Quality Assurance, Training, and Round Robins.
• Communicates with lab staff and management to promote empowerment and accountability.
• Obtains and maintains an in-depth knowledge of local market requirements.
• Understands customer requirements and organizes lab procedures, schedules and staffing to provide for meeting/exceeding same.
• Fosters customer confidence in CCC laboratory work.
• Supports the ISO certificate(s) and manages corrective/preventive actions.
• Reviews local laboratory operations for all aspects of the continuous improvement process.
• Recommends measures to improve testing procedures, use of equipment, and needs for new equipment. Conducts research to develop custom procedures as needed, working in conjunction with senior lab management.
• Maintains open communication with the Lab Manager.
• Represents CCC by appearance and conduct. Behaves ethically at all times; Ensures compliance in all areas
• Ensures laboratory practices meet or exceed company policy and industry standards.
• Establishes or adjusts work schedules to meet testing requirements and control costs.
• Assists with maintaining time, training, calibration, QC and testing records.
• Other duties as may be assigned by Lab Management, and/or senior management.
6.0 Fitness for Duty - Physical Demands
Workday may consist of 8-12 hours however this can vary day to day and shift to shift. Some of the retain work is performed outdoors, wearing full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and could include possible exposure to high and low temperatures for a prolonged duration of time. Laboratory work is normally performed indoors under climate-controlled conditions.

3.0 Position Summary
Supervises and coordinates day-to-day functions of the retain area. Responsible for overseeing all activities/duties related to sample retain and disposal. Duties include proper storage of samples, entering sample information and storage location into database, disposing of samples, maintaining the sample retain area in a clean and organized manner and other general lab duties as determined by Laboratory Management.
4.0 Minimum Requirements
• Requires a H.S. Degree (or equivalent).
• Must demonstrate ability to grasp new procedures quickly and be capable of working independently upon completion of training.
• Must pass pulmonary test for respirator use.
5.0 Responsibilities
As instructed by the Branch and/or Laboratory Manager and under the strict guidelines described in internal standard operating procedures:
• Ensure retain staff are following all documented safety requirements as defined by company safety program.
• Uses sound judgement and discretion in supervising and scheduling the work activities of retain staff consistent with accepted operating practices and procedures.
• Supervises the maintenance and control of the sample retain and disposal areas, including following standard cradle-to-grave company or client requirements.
• Assists in training of new retain technicians.
• Ensure the retain area in a clean, neat, safe, and orderly manner.
• Reports to the Laboratory Supervisor.
