Under the direct supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for providing cause-driven coordination and operations to the Aquatics Department. This position is responsible for delivering and assisting in all aspects of aquatic operations including program development & delivery, staffing and supervision of lifeguards and instructors, and troubleshooting & monitoring daily pool mechanics, logs, and procedures that adhere to all state, local, and YMCA health & safety regulations. Responsibilities
Provides leadership and support to YMCA aquatics programming by providing private & group lessons and appropriately mentoring Swim Instructors including conducting effective onboarding and training for new employees.
Instructs swimming lessons as assigned in accordance with YMCA guidelines.
Works with the Aquatics Director to hire, train, develop, and supervise all aquatics instructors, lifeguards & volunteers.
Cooperatively supports the Aquatics Director by developing schedules, overseeing instructors and guards, ensuring all safety and risk prevention policies are followed.
Assists the Aquatics Director with maintaining safe swimming conditions in the pool, on deck and surrounding areas. Prevents accidents by maintaining observation of the pool area, enforcing health and safety rules and maintaining emergency readiness.
Ensure all lifeguards are always rescue ready. Complete quick checks oversight for each pool and shift. Responsible for conducting and recording routine live drills and in-service trainings.
Creates schedules and manages coverage to ensure program delivery and maximum usage of all pools.
Assists as needed with pool administration including the creation of the Swim Lessons, Private Swim Lessons, Master's Program and the Swim Instructor schedules.
Always exhibit a professional attitude, which includes wearing proper staff attire, supporting and enforcing pool rules, YMCA policies and decisions and answering member questions about YMCA programs and services.
Foster an environment that is positive, motivating, and engaging to all members and staff.
Responsible for providing department oversight and leadership in the absence of the Aquatics Director.

Qualifications
Minimum 21 years of age
Current American Red Cross lifeguard, First Aid, CPR/AED and oxygen administration certifications, within 90 days of employment.
YMCA Swim Lesson V.6 Instructor Certification, within 90 days of employment.
Demonstrated ability to assist children and others in the development of swimming skills.
Online Child Abuse Prevention, Bloodborne Pathogens and Unlawful Harassment Prevention training within 7 days.
The YMCA of the Jersey Shore New Team Member Orientation within 90 days.
Ability to assist with the daily supervision of a diverse aquatic staff of lifeguards, swim instructors, and volunteers. Some prior supervision of staff preferred.

Kids in the Game is looking for Group Division Leaders that will work closely with the Camp Director and Assistant Directors to make the 2025 summer the best one ever. Will you be tying shoes, putting on sunscreen, answering a million little one's questions? Absolutely. But you will also be going on field trips, playing sports, and changing kids' lives all day long and there is nothing better than that. Most importantly you will be providing a supportive, safe, and fun environment for the youth of New York City to grow and learn while experiencing the non-stop fun of Summer Camp!
The Division Leader is energetic and will oversee up to 3-4 groups of campers (10-15 campers per group) along with approximately 6-8 counselors.
Engage with campers, keeping daily notes and handling any camper issues within your division.
Work to reduce conflict among campers, create a team-friendly environment with positivity.
Collaborate with Camp Director and Assistant Director to train and evaluate Head and Assistant Counselors
Demonstrate organizational skills: lesson planning, timelines, meet deadlines, following schedules and set goals.
Hold weekly division meetings with counselors to go over the weekly schedule, field trips and other group needs.
Assist Camp Director and Assistant Directors in any special event planning and execution for your division.
Support in planning and executing the activities in coordination with the weekly theme guides.

Compensation Range:
This is a part-time, seasonal position based in New York City. Job Summary

The Camp Lifeguard plays a crucial role ensuring the safety and well-being of campers and staff participating in waterfront activities. Reporting to the Aquatics Director, the Camp Lifeguard oversees water safety, supervises aquatic activities, and provides emergency response when needed. Additionally, the Lifeguard assists in delivering swim instruction, maintaining the waterfront area, and contributing to camp-wide programming. The ideal candidate is a strong swimmer, a proactive leader, and a team player who enjoys working outdoors in a fast-paced camp environment. The waterfront is composed of a swimming dock with a 3ft deep crib, a deep end roped to a floating dock, and a 30ft long beach with canoes and kayaks.
Responsibilities
* Waterfront Supervision & Safety
* Provide surveillance during aquatic activities to prevent and respond to injuries.
* Perform water rescues and emergency response procedures, including CPR and first aid.
* Evaluate and monitor campers' swimming abilities and enforce appropriate safety regulations.
* Implement emergency action plans and respond effectively to changes in weather or water conditions.
* Aquatics Instruction & Program Support
* Assist with teaching swim lessons, and other waterfront activities.
* Ensure campers and staff follow water safety protocols .
* Help plan and execute waterfront special events and activities.
* Waterfront Facility & Equipment Maintenance
* Conduct daily safety checks of the waterfront area, ensuring equipment is in working order.
* Keep the waterfront area clean and free of hazards and debris.
* Assist in maintaining inventory and stocking first aid and program supplies.
* Camp Participation and Additional duties
* Live in a cabin with a group of campers, alongside 2 other staff members.
* Be a mentor, a listener, and a role model, helping campers adjust to camp life and build friendships.
* Support campers through homesickness, excitement, challenges, and triumphs.
* Lead by example in keeping cabins tidy, respecting camp rules, and fostering a positive camp culture.
Requirements
* Must be at least 18 years old.
* Current certifications in:
* First Aid & CPR less than 1 year old
* Lifeguarding (Including Deep Water) for Professional Rescuers and Waterfront Skills (for pool and beach)
* Ability to pass a background check, physical exam, and meet all required immunizations (MMR required).
Qualifications
* High School Diploma or equivalent
* At least one year of experience as a lifeguard, swim instructor, or similar role
