As a Track Out Camp counselor, you will lead and actively participate in active/passive games, arts and crafts, food experiences, outdoor activities, science experiments and more. Camp Counselors are expected to be role models and provide meaningful experiences for their campers. This position is supervised by the Camp Directors and full-time Recreation Program Specialist. This position is part-time and does not qualify for benefits. A SAMPLE OF THE ESSENTIALS: * Actively leads participants in active/passive games, arts and crafts, food experiences, outdoor activities, science experiments, and others scheduled by Camp Directors. * Effectively communicates at all times with Camp Directors. * Monitor campers, with support of full-time staff, who have medical/inclusion accommodations. * Administers first aid. * Documents injuries and behavior incidents alongside Camp Directors. * Identifies unsafe situations and work hazards, corrects them if possible and reports them to their supervisor. * Implements camp rules and maintains behavior management policies in a positive manner. * Maintain clean work and play areas. * Carries out job duties in a safe manner in accordance with all Town policies; follows safety procedures. * Driving a mini bus for field trips. Monitor children as they navigate around the PCC grounds, or Beach Club. Playing outdoors and following a schedule that will be planned for the week or day. Making sure that children who have allergies are checked throughout their time. (Whether this is making sure their lunch is peanut-free... etc.) Be friendly and happy to members and their children as they are dropped off or picked up for the day. Explain if the member has questions about the day to day activity with a good attitude. Assist in the cleanliness of the area in which the children are at. (Making sure that there is no trash after they are moving from area to area). Notify staff or director of any needs and log this information such as: (illness, sunburn etc.) so that the proper parents/members can be notified before pick up. Responsible for responding to incidents in a timely manner such as but not limited to, behavioral problems, accidents that will be recorded and written down with themselves and a manager. Attend regular staff meetings as scheduled, whether that be for camps or for the whole PCC Pool and Beach Club complex. The counselor must have a willingness to work with others across all settings. A Summer Camp Leader is an important member of our team. They help create magical and impactful day camps for children ages 4-14. As a Camp Leader, you'll be spending your time: * Supervising a team of Camp Counselor staff members in partnership with a full-time facility director * Developing and implementing active/passive games, art and crafts, food experiences, outdoor exploration, science experiments, field trips, swimming, and more * Communicating with parents/guardians and full-time and part-time camp staff * Ensuring the physical and emotional safety of participants This position begins early June and runs through mid-August. Training dates will be end of May and early June. Hours are dependent on specific camp site needs. Hours are typically between 40-55 hours per week and range Monday through Friday from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. This position does not work on nights or weekends - they are yours to enjoy! At least 18 years of age CPR, First Aid and AED certification within 30 days of hire date. Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
