Duties/Responsibilities/Functions/Tasks
Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in their camper group within specialist activities and throughout other aspects of camp in order to meet the intended camper outcomes
Apply basic youth development principles in working with campers through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement and empowerment of youth
Assures campers are properly supervised at all times
Be aware of and implement safety guidelines
Participate in the development and implementation of program activities for campers within the mission and outcomes
Responsible for leading or assisting with the teaching of activities
Actively participate in all program areas as assigned
Provide for a progression of activities within the framework of individual and group interests and abilities
Assist in program areas such as pool, nature, all camp activities, and arts and crafts as directed
Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff
Provide the daily care of each camper within your supervision including recognition of personal health needs
Ensure that campers receive their medications as directed by Camp Leadership Team
Be alert to campers and staff needs and assist them with personal and/or health problems; discuss with Camp Leadership Team when appropriate
Be alert to equipment and facilities to ensure utilization, proper care, and maintenance is adhered to; report repairs needed promptly to Camp Leadership Team
Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior
Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures
Set a good example to campers and others in regard to general camp procedures and practices including sanitation, schedule, and sportsmanship
Represent the camp when interacting with parents or community members
Provide parents appropriate feedback and information as needed for their campers to have a successful camp experience
Follow safety and security protocols when campers are in public while presenting a positive image of the camp
Physical Requirements:
Stand for up to 45 minutes at a time
Stand/swim in up to 4 feet of water to supervise campers
Supervise campers in a hot environment - up to 99 degree heat index
Other Job Duties:
Provide supervision for campers while campers are transported to and from camp during scheduled field trips off camp property
Contribute to verbal and written evaluations and communication as requested
Other duties as assigned by Unit Head, Program Director, Assistant Camp Director(s) and Camp Director

RESPONSIBILITIES

Support all areas of the Company by providing timely, ongoing, on-demand legal counsel and guidance related to a broad array of resident and employee injury/safety issues, risk mitigation measures, commercial disputes, and other miscellaneous legal issues that may arise.
Partner with the Portfolio Safety and Risk Team to direct investigations of incidents that could give rise to liability for the Company.
Perform legal and factual research and risk analysis and provide risk-related advice for various Company practices or programs.
Advise on legal issues and strategies for resolving claims, working closely with the Company's insurance broker and Portfolio Safety and Risk Team to identify potential legal risks and communicate those risks to internal partners.
Effectively communicate complex legal concepts to executive leadership and other internal partners.
Regularly engage with corporate and onsite teams to understand Company operations, policies and procedures, and initiatives, work collaboratively, and build credibility with those teams.
Identify areas of risk associated with significant litigation, assess possible brand exposure, and develop mitigation strategies to provide to executive leadership and other teams and risk-related committees within the Company.
Participate in appropriate legal and industry groups to identify best practices in personal injury/premises liability mitigation and litigation management.
Create and refine training materials, checklists, and workflows regarding the areas of responsibility described above.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Juris Doctor degree required.

Must be in the pool with your group during swim times.

Educate and communicate camper behavior issues with parents/guardians.
Understand each camper is an individual and is important, regardless of ability and personality.

This volunteer/service-hour position is an important step toward becoming a future Kidcam Counselor at age 15.
Pre-Camp: Participate in orientation and training to learn camp expectations, safety guidelines, and the basics of camper supervision. Understand the daily schedule, activity structure, and the role CITs play in supporting counselors and campers.
During Camp: Assist counselors with group activities, games, snack and lunch programs, swimming supervision, and transitions between activities. Help maintain clean and organized group areas, support camper engagement, and step in as an extra set of hands wherever needed. CITs also learn from directors and leadership staff about camp operations and decision-making.
Post-Camp: Support group clean-up at the end of each day or week, reflect on lessons learned, and provide feedback on your experience to camp leadership. This reflection helps prepare for future paid counselor roles.
