Part-time Description Job Description: Responsible for operating the cableway and instructing Campers on riding guidelines, best practices, and safety during their ride and time at the park. Key Responsibilities Instruct the campers on the proper usage of equipment and life jackets. Teaching the campers, the cable rules (i.e. safety rules, proper exiting, buoys, etc.) Assisting the campers with any problems. Monitoring camper's conduct and enforcing riding rules. Retrieving ropes, boards, etc., when needed. Overseeing the safety of fallen skiers and assisting the campers out of the lake if needed and if qualified. The FWC is seeking a self-motivated, energetic, outcome-oriented individual to work as part of the Summer Camp Counselor team at the Everglades Youth Conservation Center (EYCC) in West Palm Beach. The incumbents will work with the summer camp team to deliver experiential programs designed to engage youth with Florida's ecosystems through outdoor recreation. EYCC is a residential summer camp and sees as many as 800 participants throughout the summer. Under the direction of the Site Supervisor, the Afterschool Counselor provides safety, well-being and development of participants in the after school program and is instrumental in closing the Achievement Gap and cultivating an environment in which youth have a sense of belonging. This position interacts and serves as a mentor for youth, helping to nurture their self-esteem, confidence and to reflect the Tampa Y core values when interacting with youth.
