What You'll Do
As a Lead DEAN Fellowship Counselor, you'll serve as a mentor, facilitator, and leadership coach for high school-aged Fellows participating in DEAN's immersive leadership and professional development program. Responsibilities include:
Guiding Fellows through a three-week rotational experience, supporting them as they shadow instructors, assist with camp operations, and engage in hands-on leadership opportunities.
Facilitating daily leadership workshops and discussions focused on collaboration, communication, entrepreneurship, creative problem-solving, and adaptive leadership.
Coaching Fellows as they take on increasing responsibility working with younger campers and adult staff, offering real-time feedback and reflection.
Supporting Fellows in planning, executing, and presenting an independent capstone project, from concept development through final presentation.
Leading structured reflection sessions that help Fellows connect camp experiences to real-world skills and future goals.
Modeling professionalism, accountability, and positive leadership behaviors in all interactions.

Schedule and Requirements
Full on-site availability during the summer: June-August, Monday-Friday
Hours: camp operates 7am-6pm, leads typically work 35 hours per week within this timeframe, generally 8am-4pm
Ability to commute to: 370 Lancaster Ave., Haverford, PA 19041
Must be at least 21 years old.
Must be up to date on all immunizations and willing to provide emergency health information upon hire.
Ability to lift 50 lbs, respond quickly to emergencies, and work in an active, outdoor environment.
Must have valid First Aid & CPR certification.

FLSA Status: This is a seasonal full-time, exempt position under the FLSA.
Paid training: remote training on: including safety, DEI, classroom management, and more + in-person staff training the weekend prior to camp; please note that training is paid at state minimum wage, or $12/hr, whichever is higher.

POSITION SUMMARY
Camp Star
Camp Star is seeking a Junior CampCounselor to support the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides direct supervision of a group of children in a seasonal day camp. Creates positive, nurturing relationships with children, while building cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers. Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school student or equivalent.
Previous experience working with children preferably in a day camp setting, preferably as a CIT.
Interest preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living, archery, boating, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc.
At least 16 years of age.
CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.

Hillsborough YMCA is seeking Lead Counselors for the Before & After School program at Hillsborough YMCA. Under the direction of the Site Supervisor & the Senior Program Director, the Lead Counselor is responsible for supervising a group of children. The Lead Counselor establishes relationships with children and their parents while providing a safe, pleasant and caring atmosphere during before care and aftercare. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Creates positive, nurturing relationships with children, while building cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers. Promotes and supports the potential of all youth in programs and facilitates peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall afterschool and before school experience.
Hours
Before Care: 6:30am-9:00am
After Care: 2:00pm-6:00pm
Monday-Friday, all lead counselors are intended to work 5 days a week, if flexible Schedule is needed, please have it prepared at interview.
Essential Functions:
Plans, prepares and implements daily activities for groups of 16-30 children
Creates innovative games and activities to keep children engaged
Works to teach a variety of activities, aiding in the supervision of all activities, including field trips, leading games and any other small or large group activities
Establishes relationships with children and their parents
Engages each students by name and communicate with them to ensure quality, fun, and a safe experience
Delegates and coordinates activities as leader of a team of counselors and junior counselors
Coaches and guides counselors and children during all activities throughout the day
Effectively communicates groups needs with leadership
Effectively communicates daily happenings and incidents to parents of students
Maintains group backpack including group binder/roster, student information sheets, necessary medications when off site, and first aid kit
Handles all behavior, medical, and other incidents within their group, requesting assistance from leadership when necessary
Responsible for scheduling group counselor to swim with group daily
Embraces four YMCA values and encourages peers and students to do so
Attends trainings, seminars and meetings as required
Adheres and incorporates the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility and educates members about the YMCA mission and goals
Qualifications:
Must be 18 years or older
Must have experience working with children
Must be able to handle difficult situations
Must have ability to learn and think quickly to solve child-to-child situations
