Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide a fun, supportive atmosphere where campers can improve their individual potential, gain understanding of others, experience new ideas and develop an appreciation for all things aquatic
Perform and teach all lifeguard, CPR, and first aid skills in an engaging manner
Implement different activities to include sports, team games and lifeguarding skills for the Junior Lifeguard Camp Program
Maintain and be able to perform First Aid and/or CPR and additional lifesaving equipment according to park protocols as needed
Maintain adequate inventory of program supplies
Communicate effectively with park management regarding camp activities
Track camper attendance
Must be a good role model for campers
Develop professional relationships with each camper within the group
Promote positive group interaction
Maintain clean and safe work environment for campers, customers, and other team members
Provide superior guest service to all customers in a polite and expedient manner
Be attentive at all times
Maintain a professional image
Assist customers with questions regarding Ocean Breeze Waterpark
Follow park policies and procedures
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Ability and willingness to attend an ILTP lifeguard training course.
A desire to work with children outdoors
Ability to accept guidance and supervision
Demonstrate ability to work independently
Ability to communicate effectively with customers, team members, and leadership
Ability to effectively speak and communicate in front of large groups of people
Be aware, attentive, and work well with others
Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions while taking precautions, including hydration and sun-protection
Must be able to work weekdays and holidays to meet business needs
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to swim 200 yards using front crawl (freestyle) or breaststroke without resting
Must be able to perform a feet-first surface dive, retrieve a 10-lb. brick, and bring it to the surface
Must be able to tread water without using arms for 2 minutes
Must have 20/25 corrected vision
Must have hearing and speech, manual and bi-manual dexterity, fine and gross motor skills, and eye/hand coordination
Must be able to get in and out of a pool without a ladder
Must be comfortable jumping in water from varying heights
Ability to climb stairs
Must be able to respond to situations quickly. This may include running to various locations around the park, while carrying emergency bag weighing up to 25 lbs
Must be able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time
Job Functions:
