Maintains accurate attendance records; tracking students before, during, and after each activity and during transition times.
Supervises and interacts with a group of children, along with co-counselors; provides intentional interactions with campers; actively participates with campers at all times; encourages campers to try new activities; utilizes behavior modification techniques to keep campers safe and happy.
Is prepared for first aid and medical emergencies as described in the Camp Training Manual.
Maintains positive relations and provides support to co-workers; assists specialists in all activities with campers, i.e. arts and crafts, sports, ropes, etc.; actively participates in each of the camp areas, role modeling teamwork and sportsmanship.
Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY
Camp Star Hillsborough
Camp Star is seeking a Senior CampCounselor to support the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides direct supervision of a group of children in a seasonal day camp. Creates positive, nurturing relationships with children, while building cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers. Promotes and supports the potential of all youth in programs and facilitates peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall camp experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Keeps campers focused and engaged in camp activities.
Assist Specialist during activity periods.
Consistently greet campers with a smile and treat them with enthusiasm.
Develop positive relationships with member families and learn why they come to our Y.
Learn camper's names. Respond to campers needs.
Assist Specialists and all camp staff in carrying out themes, special events, trips, and all camp activities.
Encourage camper's youth development progress.

Work cooperatively with all camp staff while planning all camp activities.

What You'll Do
As a Lead Culinary Counselor (Multi-Age), you'll facilitate hands-on culinary experiences for campers across multiple age groups, teaching different groups week-to-week based on site needs. You'll adapt recipes, tools, and expectations to ensure campers of all ages feel safe, successful, and excited to cook. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Leading culinary programming for both younger and older campers, typically ages 6-15, with one age group per week.

Camp Curiosity will conduct summer camp training sessions during evening hours June 8 - June 11. Finalized dates and times will be confirmed and communicated to hired staff.
Camp Curiosity will be hosting a CPR and Lifeguard Certification class in June 2026, dates TBD.
