About the Job A Camp Counselor works with a team, frequently interacts with dogs, assists with caring for dogs, monitors play yard, performs regular cleaning, assists with meal preparation, and provides excellent customer service. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Evaluate dog behavior, reactions, and interactions with other dogs to complete the initial dog screening evaluations, also called “interviews.” Monitor play yards for dogs of all sizes. Maintain continuous focus and attention on dog interactions to prevent fights and injuries. Observe and learn animal behavior and signs of aggression in order to appropriately assign dogs to the proper play yards, which will require listening and distinguishing between dog vocalizations, distress barks, aggression, etc. Perform dog health checks throughout the day. Clean play yards, cabins, and all common spaces: mopping, sweeping, and scrubbing. Perform dog washes, nail trims, and other basic dog grooming tasks. Perform duties: restocking supplies, taking out the trash and basic cabin maintenance. Complete Pet First Aid and Doggy CPR certification within 90 days of hire. Feed dogs and administer medications as directed. Make reservations for day and night campers, accept payments for services. Follow established service protocols and procedures to ensure high quality customer service. Attend additional training as management deems necessary. Abide by the employee code of ethics and attendance accountability as set forth by Camp Bow Wow. All other duties as assigned by management. Essential Skills Extremely energetic, outgoing, upbeat with a positive personality. Must be able to work at a fast pace, in a team environment, and have exceptional customer service skills! Highly reliable, on-time, and flexible. Basic computer skills (such as email, MS Office, company specific database) MUST LOVE DOGS - the barks, the hair, the messes, the love, and the smiles!!!!!!!! Requirements Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. At least 18 years or older. Be able to lift or push heavy items, i.e., dog food, supplies, carts, etc. Be able to walk and/or stand for a long period of time; occasionally climb, bend, stoop and kneel Be able to perform tasks outside in various weather conditions. Genuine love for dogs and a dedication to safety and cleanliness. Professional experience working with dogs in a daycare or boarding facility, or as a vet tech, vet assistant or dog trainer, is HIGHLY desired.
