You get to drive customers around in a golf cart, which is entertaining. That’s all I can think of.
The managements is a disconnected small group of people that clearly don’t like themselves or their jobs. If you don’t beat people over the head when they walk in the door and immediately sell them a camper on the list. You have to trade your own personal values and ethics and morals, in addition to any personal life that would never actually include Camping because you have to work EVERY SINGLE WEEKEND. It was the worst on-boarding and training I’ve ever experienced of any company in my 30 years of experience.
Most Saturdays the manager would buy a decent lunch probably the employees. That is literally the single and only perk or benefit that I can think of in that job. Oh, unless you enjoy working on a “team” of people that will consistently stab you in the back to make a sale for themselves. Unfortunately, their entire structure is chaotic and disconnected in addition to being completely understaffed.
I appreciate it and respected the CEOs, previous experience and what I knew about him from his television shows and books. It was shocking to experience, but felt like the exact opposite from all levels of management in the organization. As an example, our general manager had never managed anything prior to that position. Selling some thing and managing a team are totally different skill sets.
I would start with anything that resembled operational procedures and structure for all levels of the organization that we ensure those positions of authority are actually qualified to hold them and skilled enough to support the teams responsible for.
I visited the store to get an idea of their culture and how they treated customers. In my experience, that can be an effective way in creating good or bad gut feeling before applying. I should’ve also read more reviews from not only past employees, but particularly customers who have not had great experiences.
There is absolutely no diversity aside from A few members of the service team.
It was great to work with customers to narrow in on a camper or RV, that they would absolutely love owning and using. Other than that, the only other joy was leaving at the end of the day.
Working with some great people
Out of touch people who don't actually work in the stores anymore run the show. Marcus please pay attention to camping world!
When Marcus was involved and cared about the company.
Marcus cared.
Truly get back to the family feel as it once was.
Just be honest and bring your A game!
Depending on the position it could go either way.
Camping world is a very diverse company.
Making customers happy! The Comradery and watching the business thrive!
Staying busy an easy work an friendly people
When it's slow
Good hourly pay an they bring food every saturday
Nothing except for fact that I was working to best of my ability.
Zero training, extremely non ethical business practices. Non working managers(blast music all day while I’m in office with them trying to book appointments as sole BDC Representative. Could go on and on. No Teamwork, which I am big on.
Aren’t any.
The team effort, my immediate manager,
Long hours with very little pay
They feed us 2 days a week, great health benefits
I have worked at a couple Camping Worlds. I absolutely LOVE the customers! I also love the company for the most part.
I hate the way service and parts are so out to get each other!
