PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
As a member of the Section Gang, you will be responsible for laying, repairing, and maintaining railroad tracks for standard or narrow-gauge equipment used in mainline service, plant yards, quarries, sand and gravel pits, and mines. Duties include operating specialized machinery such as ballast cleaning and bed tamping equipment to ensure safe and efficient track conditions.

Maintain written procedures for all field personnel to use as guidelines for qualifications, wages, training, Track standards, inspection, maintenance and repair of all internal track, ties, rail, switches, frogs' crossovers, crossings, etc. that are based on sound and proven track maintenance methods in WATCO policies and applicable regulations.
Meets with FRA as required to receive feedback regarding track conditions.
Ensures compliance with all Federal, State, and Local regulations.
Monitor Emaint to ensure FRA track inspection records & compliance are up to date and being followed as described in the regulation
Track and monitor specified quantitative data points for weekly/monthly reporting meetings with Division Engineering Superintendent.

Position Description:
The Conductor position will control and coordinate the train movements while switching railcars whether in the yard of a railroad, industrial plant, or similar location to facilitate the unloading and loading of railcars in a safe and efficient manner to service our customers. This position is a manual labor position which requires that the individual become proficient in the following skills, duties, and requirements within a prescribed training and introductory period.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrate predictable, reliable, and timely attendance.
Follow written and verbal directions to complete assigned tasks on schedule.

Reads switching orders from designated person.

Required Certifications:

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Engineering Foreman is responsible for carefully examining track structures and roadbeds to identify any issues that could compromise train safety or cause delays. This role ensures all maintenance work meets company standards and complies with relevant regulations. When problematic or unsafe conditions are found, the Engineering Foreman coordinates and oversees the required maintenance and repairs to promptly address deficiencies and keep rail operations running smoothly.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* Oversee adherence to regulatory requirements within the designated geographic area to maintain safe and compliant infrastructure
* Carry out scheduled track inspections, keep thorough records, and ensure corrective measures are tracked and completed
* Establish daily priorities and objectives for work crews, and advise the Roadmaster on work plans
* Verify that all maintenance work within the territory complies with the latest standards and regulatory requirements
* Assess and confirm that track conditions permit authorized train speeds, or enforce appropriate safety protections as needed
* Direct and supervise the replacement of specific track components as necessary.
* Ensure the work environment remains safe and productive for all staff
* Organize work schedules and allocate resources efficiently to achieve timely project completion

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Must be at least 21 years of age
* Valid driver's license required; Class A commercial driver's license is preferred
* A minimum of one year of relevant experience in track construction, restoration, and FRA 213 compliance is required
* Operate and work in proximity to loud, heavy machinery, and perform tasks that require bending, lifting, walking, standing, and sitting in confined spaces for long durations, as well as utilizing hand and power tools
* Comply with all safety guidelines and ensure appropriate use of personal protective equipment as needed for the job

Expected to progress in skill and responsibilities of train operations over time with the eventual goal of becoming a Conductor.
Responsibilities:
* Assists in all phases of the safe daily operation of trains.
* Operates equipment according to company policies, procedures, and practices.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The conductor position is a foundational role in the railway and operates within the framework of the union agreement. A conductor works as a member of a train crew that assists in switching rail cars, making or splitting up trains in rail yards, or moving rail cars between rail yards. POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

TRAINING PROGRAM:
CPKC provides 15 weeks of paid in-class and field training. Providing you with a solid understanding of our safety practices, rules and operations. During classroom training you will earn $200 per day. On-the-job training pays between $339.09 to $397.20 per day depending on the job assignment. Once qualified as a conductor, you will earn various daily rates depending on the job assignment and hours. Daily rates can range between $376.77 - $496.22. Overtime will apply when working beyond the bulletined hours of the job. In the event of any discrepancy between the listed rates and the provisions of the labor agreement, the terms and conditions outlined in the labor agreement shall govern.
