1. Provides good customer service as the front-line support staff for the laboratory. Communicate professionally and confidentially with patients, clients and staff members. 2. Successfully collects blood samples from both ambulatory and bed ridden patients utilizing venipuncture sticks, finger sticks and heel sticks. Obtains throat culture swabs and verbally instructs patients on collecting samples at home, i.e. stools and 24-hour urines.
3. Processes laboratory specimens according to the test methodology guidelines for the appropriate testing site; centrifuging samples, pouring off serum or plasma, keeping sample at optimum temperature for accurate results to be achieved.
4. Properly register patient demographic information into the laboratory information system. Data entry must be complete and accurate ensuring adequate information at time of service for services to be billed.
5. Enter the physicians' orders for lab work into the LIS accurately and on the correct patient account.
6. Has basic compliance knowledge as it pertains to phlebotomy, including HIPAA compliance, and Medicare requirements for Medical Necessity.
7. Has knowledge of working multiple CCHC Laboratories collection sites; minimum of 3 sites in order to cross over locations. Must be able to open and close each site.
8. Communicates with clients via telephone to ensure proper specimen identity, correct patient information and proper diagnoses, as well as give physicians results on their patients.
9. *Handles specimen problems with appropriate training, as well as informing a supervisor of a problem needing management involvement.
10. *Performs an occasional stat draw at a nursing home, a patient home or physician office when designated by management.
11. *On a rotation for On-Call per contract.
12. Fills supply orders for clients and collection sites.
13. Keeps phlebotomy areas well stocked, including the stock room.
14. Provides daily maintenance and safety of all drawing rooms, including but not limited to cleaning workbenches and drawing chairs daily.
15. Works as a team member with the entire CCHC Laboratories staff and with related laboratories, performing other related job duties as directed by a manager.
16. Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers.
17. Performs other related duties assigned by manager for departmental needs.

* Successful completion of a basic phlebotomy program with classroom instruction and practical hours or work experience where phlebotomy is a requirement of position.
* A certificate in phlebotomy or other field where phlebotomy training was required is preferred.
* Acceptable driving record in accordance with the Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) criteria (will be obtained as a precondition to begin employment).
* Successfully complete CCHC Laboratories' Driver Safety Training Program (and every 2 years thereafter).
* Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
* Knowledge of Microsoft office suite and basic keyboarding skills preferred.

* Assists in the fulfillment of priority inventory requests by efficiently retrieving items and delivering them to appropriate drop off locations.
* Uses SPM to ensure the accuracy of the needs list by scanning items to intended case cart and/or Operating Room. Adjust any updated case information as necessary.
* Capable of working within a matrix team environment, demonstrates initiative and the ability to prioritize workloads under stressful and changing situations.
* Develop working knowledge of instruments, soft goods, and specialty supplies for all services. Utilizes product knowledge and SPM to offer substitute products when requested products are unavailable.
* Must be able to locate and provide specialty supplies and specialty instrumentations for any service.
* Follows the Failed Device Workflow to transport and document devices failures in the Operating Room.
* Scans out products from Mobile Aspects Cabinets when appropriate.
* Assists in the management of Emergency Cart contents by auditing for completeness, verifying locks and logging compliance as directed.
Supply:
* Responsible for supply procurement, including tissue and implants and ensuring inventory levels are maintained.
* Assists with de-casing orders in breakdown areas, removing all cardboard to preserve a clean environment.
* Handles and distributes supplies safely to maintain sterile product integrity.
* Responsible for the stocking of assigned non-specialty supplies and inventory items in designated supply locations.
* Replenish supply locations using FIFO (First In, First Out-rotational) procedure to avoid stockpiling and ensure sterility of product.
* Consistently check for outdates and removes expired products from supply locations.
* Gathers unused sterile supplies and returns them to their designated stock locations.
* Monitor overstock storage areas and restock depleted stock locations accordingly.
* Maintain overall tidiness, cleanliness, and good order in supply locations; ensures items are properly shelved.
* On a periodic basis and as requested, cleans storage bins and shelves to maintain dust-free environment.
* Maintain flow and cleanliness of elevator lobbies in a neat and clean manner with minimal inventory storage. Works closely with Environmental Services to ensure waste, pallets and skids are clear of all egress.
* Provides support to end users and staff members regarding product location, delivery and returns as requested.
Case Pick:
* Collects sterile supplies in specific quantities as specified by the patient-specific Preference Card, inspecting each product for expiration and package integrity.
* Collects sterile instrument sets and peel packs in specific quantities as specified by the patient-specific Preference Card, inspecting each product for indications of appropriate sterilization and package integrity including wrap and sterilization tape integrity, and presence of external locks.
* Selects empty Case Carts that are appropriate for the amount of sterile product needed and ensures the Case Cart is clean and free of soil and debris.
* Using SPM, builds Case Carts for assigned surgical cases. Scans all instruments and supplies to the Case Cart.
* Scans the Case Cart to appropriate Operating Room and/or storage locations.

Job Summary
GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
Under the direction of the Lab Manager and with the general supervision from the Senior Tech Specialist, the technologist will be required to perform standard and complex all night sleep recordings as well as multiple sleep latency tests.
Monitors additional physiologic phenomena by means of appropriate technique. The polysomnograms may measure oxygen saturation, EKG, EEG, respirations, ETC02 levels, upper airway resistance, CPAP and BI-PAP levels and other parameters necessary for a complete sleep study. After an initiation period of 4-6 weeks the tech would be required to work independently not necessarily alone for up to 12 hours. The technologist must be able to make appropriate decisions regarding the diagnosis and treatment of benign to the most complex patients. May perform clerical and other laboratory duties required.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Examines physicians' orders and protocols for each sleep study. Reviews existing information in the patient's record and recognizes chief sleep/wake complaints. - Greets and interviews the patient to assess current medication, recent caffeine/alcohol ingestion, current sleep patterns and the need for treatment intervention during the study. Communicates with the ordering physician or unit director to clarify unclear of inappropriate orders and communications information regarding the patients' status.
* Must spend appropriate time in servicing the patient regarding the possible use of CPAP/BI-level equipment. The patient's fears apprehensions concerning CPAP should e reduced or eliminated by the in-service.
* Sets up/calibrates monitoring equipment with appropriate montage. Measures and applies necessary EEG electrodes using the 10/20 system. Applies appropriate EKG, EMG, and EOG monitoring electrodes. Places and securely attaches thermistor to measure nasal/oral airflow, respiratory effort, oximetry, and ETC02. Administers supplemental O2 under physicians' order.
* Performs physiologic calibrations, verifies the integrity of the recording. Institutes "lights out" and notes patient data every 15 minutes on a tally sheet. Monitors the polysomnogram for clinical and physiological events. Must be able to interpret severely abnormal data/EKG rhythms and report such findings to the sleep physicians. Notes and corrects equipment malfunctions. Understands indications, contraindications and adverse effects of nasal continuous positive airway pressure (NVPAP, BI-level and oxygen administration), applies and titrates therapy based on physicians' orders and established protocols.
* Recognizes and responds appropriately to the patient's medical problems and physiological events, especially cardiac arrhythmias, respiratory events and seizures. Alters the patient's environment or changes the patient's body position as needed to obtain the required sleep/wake data. Evaluates routine or abnormal EEG when it applies.
* Carefully wakes the patient and records post-sleep calibrations. Removes the electrodes, and ancillary monitors and assists Standard Precautions Infection Control procedures. Properly disinfects and sterilizes the equipment, the electrodes and the thermistors and monitors used during the study. Prepare a detailed report of the data and intervention used to diagnose and treat the patient.
* Attends seminars and professional meetings to keep knowledge and skills updated and maintain CEC required for AASM accreditation. Attends department meetings whenever held.

Qualifications
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
* Acquisition of high quality studies - Following pediatric protocols for diagnostic polysomnography, multiple sleep latency testing, CPAP/bilevel/ASV titration, and oxygen titration.
* Thorough documentation of nocturnal events
* Troubleshooting of patient and equipment related issues during the night - Developing skills related to scoring of nocturnal studies
* Mask fitting and troubleshooting for PAP therapy
* Assessment and management of challenges related to obtaining polysomnographic data in small and/or medically complex children
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, and/or REGISTRATIONS:
* RPSGT certification preferred.
* All new employees have one year from date of hire to become BRPT registered. Unregistered technologists are required to sit for the exam at the next possible test date and subsequent dates until registration is achieved.
* BCLS for Healthcare Provider certification is required.
EDUCATION:
* High School Diploma required.
* Graduation from a certified hospital sleep, EEG, or respiratory therapy program is preferred.
EXPRIENCE:
1-2 years polysomnography experience required, previous pediatric experience is preferable.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to work flexible hours including some weekend shifts, with primary emphasis on night shift.

Job Summary
Under the direction of the Practice Manager, the Urology Technician II (UT- II) is responsible for assisting the physicians, advanced practice providers, and nurses with management and treatment of patients during office visits and other tasks related to the visit consistent with his/her training and skills. The UT- II works with the care team in providing a wide variety of clinical and technical support functions in the delivery of care within the practice. His/her primary role is to assist with outpatient procedures, assure efficient patient flow through the clinic, to maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient care environment and to promote patient satisfaction by interacting with patients in a professional, respectful, and friendly manner. In addition, the UT - II is expected to actively collaborate with the Practice Manager to ensure effective UT efforts across the clinical practice, and to function as a mentor to the UT - I.
General Responsibilities:
Ensures efficient patient flow through the clinic:
* Greets patient and family in waiting room and escorts to exam room.
* Identify patient using 2 identifiers (name & DOB).
* Alerts patients to possible delays in visit timing.
* Obtains and documents accurate vital signs, height, weight, pain level and allergies.
* Ensure that pre-visit paperwork has been completed.

* Monitor procedure schedules 48 and 24 hours prior to procedure dates to ensure proper scheduling of exams. Collaborate with procedure team to resolve any mis-scheduled exams.
* Prepare procedure rooms with the necessary supplies, equipment, etc. for each unique procedure.
* Maintains systems of care and preventative maintenance of all equipment.
* Able to set up Urology procedure suites for varied procedures, including but not limited to cystoscopies, bladder and prostate biopsies, UDS, vasectomies and laser procedures.
* Contacts vendor with equipment issues and communicates to staff and care teams in such scenarios. If needed, arranges for alternative testing times and locations for patient care impacted by equipment outages.
* Maintains eye wash station and corresponding log sheet.
* Prepares Urology procedure suites consistent with procedures scheduled to be performed (e.g. surgical clamps for vasectomy; ultrasound probe for biopsy; flexible cystoscope for cystoscopies).
* Prepares for and assists in Urodynamic (UDS) testing procedures, including cystometrogram and uroflowmetry. Proficiently and safely operates UDS equipment.
* Efficiently prepares procedure rooms for emergency and unscheduled procedures.
* Within procedural support, observes all universal protocols and precautions.
* Orders procedural and other supplies for Urology practice.
* Understands the reprocessing of all utilized equipment. Cleans urological instruments using proper precautions, sterile technique, and appropriate cleaning agents.
* Maintains equipment with support of MGH Bio-Med, vendors & manufacturers · Trouble-shoot equipment maintenance problems and promptly report major issues to the vendor and/or Operations Manager.
* Prepares (undress, prep, drape) and properly positions patients for Urological procedures.
* Assist Urologists in procedure rooms throughout Urology procedures.
* Reinforce instructions to patients regarding appropriate post-procedure care and limitations following ambulatory Urological procedures.
* Assist patients in completing various research-related questionnaires and health surveys.
