The Assistant Laboratory Manager supervises daily laboratory activities and personnel in the area of responsibility (e.g., writing procedures, employee scheduling, laboratory inspections, Quality Control, new instrument setup and correlation, proficiency testing, employee relations and disciplinary coaching, and other special assignments). You will also be required to recommend personnel for hiring and/or termination, assist with employee training and competency, and assist with budget preparation. Responsible for phlebotomy procedures to include bleeding time test, blood cultures, obtaining blood samples from neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients; performing glucose testing at the bedside; and performing waived or moderate complexity Point of Care testing at the bedside for patients in the Emergency Department. The Lab Assistant I is responsible for general duties associated with the preparation of samples for clinical testing and/or transport. Duties include: receiving specimens, identification, labeling, distributing laboratory samples to appropriate areas, data entry, calculating test results using preset procedures, routine instrument checks, and other duties as assigned to assist the lab team.
