1967

Cap Gemini was founded by Serge Kampf on October 1, 1967, and is headquartered in Paris, France.“

1968

The city is buzzing about the upcoming 1968 Winter Olympics.

One such large contract took Sogeti to Switzerland, where the company opened its first subsidiary operation in 1968.

1969

By the end of 1969, Sogeti's sales had topped FFr 4.2 million, and its payroll had swelled to 49.

Meanwhile, the company had also pursued a policy of maintaining close proximity with its growing list of customers, opening branch offices throughout France, beginning with Lyon in 1969.

1970

In 1970, the company acquired rival Solame, and then a 52 percent controlling interest in Sorgas.

1972

By 1972, Sogeti had offices in more than 12 French cities, plus a growing network in Switzerland through its Sogeti Suisse subsidiary.

1973

● Machinery services, which once accounted for 63% of the Sogeti Group’s revenue in 1973, now represents only 8% ten years on.

1974

The new company, dubbed Cap Sogeti, was quickly joined by another major acquisition, that of Gemini Computer Systems in September 1974.

1979

The company's Parisian office opened in 1979.

1982

Cap Gemini Sogeti already had a 42% stake in SESA since 1982.

1987

By then, the addition of full control of France's Sesa in 1987 had enabled the company's sales to leap to more than FFr 4 billion.

1988

The years following the name change were ones of conquest: the winning of new businesses, further development of consulting and services, moving into new markets, forming major alliances, and going public in 1988.

1989

In 1989, internal restructuring, European expansion and penetration into the American market enable Capgemini to become one of the global leaders in this sector.

The company also continued to add to its United States presence, including the acquisition of Merit Systems in 1989.

1990

That purchase, for $345 million, helped push Cap Gemini Sogeti's annual revenues past the FFr 9 billion mark in 1990.

The company made a new jump in 1990 when it acquired the United Kingdom's Hoskyns Group.

1991

The launch takes place at Chateau Béhoust in Yvelines, France, location of the Cap Gemini Sogeti university created in 1991.

Despite a personal aversion to computers--he would admit to Time in 1991 that he had a 'holy aversion' to them--Kampf recognized the growth potential of the computer industry.

1992

1992:Cap Gemini Sogeti posts first net loss in company's history.

In 1992, the company posted its first-ever loss of FFr 72 million on revenues of FFr 11.88 billion.

1993

● Paul Hermelin, who has worked alongside Serge Kampf since 1993, becomes CEO of the Group.

1993:Net losses reach FFr 429 million; company launches 'Genesis' restructuring plan.

1995

After reducing its losses to FFr 94 million that year, the company returned to the black in 1995, posting net profits of FFr 52 million on revenues of FFr 11.3 billion.

1996

In the year 1996, the name of CAP Gemini Sogeti was simplified to CAP Gemini along with a new company logo.

1997

Newly independent Cap Gemini returned its attention to its expansion, acquiring full control of Groupe Bossard in 1997.

1999

In April 1999, Cap Gemini acquired New Jersey-based Beechwood, which specialized in providing IT services to the telecommunications industry.

2000

It also began capitalizing on a new matter of concern across the computer industry--the so-called Y2K bug, which rendered computers and computer software incapable of recognizing the date change into the year 2000.

2002

In 2002, Serge Kampf hands the role of CEO over to Paul Hermelin.

2005

The CGIP supports the Group’s development until 2005.

2007

● Capgemini continues its global communications campaign launched in 2007 with the new slogan, “Together, free your energies”. The campaign is marked by its uniqueness, multicultural angle, and illustration style specific to each continent.

2008

● Promoted since November 2008, the new Capgemini Consulting entity sees the light of day.

2012

In 2012, after 45 years, Serge Kampf steps down from his role as Chairman at Capgemini.

2013

● Since 2013, the Group has ranked among the world’s most exemplary companies in terms of ethics.

2015

At the end of the ‘90s, Capgemini begins its development in India, which results in 85,000 employees by the end of 2015.

2016
