About Our Lactation Services Our lactation consultants support patients and caregivers with a wide range of breastfeeding and feeding concerns, including but not limited to: Latch assistance Painful nursing Breastmilk or formula supplementation NICU and medically complex infants Infant weight loss concerns Use of nipple shields or supplemental nursing systems Milk supply issues Weaning support Responsibilities Provide consultations and evaluations for parents experiencing lactation or feeding challenges. Collaborate closely with each patient's primary provider to ensure coordinated and continuous care. Participate actively in communication, planning, and decision-making within the Lactation team. Document all visits in the EHR to track concerns, progress, and ensure accurate billing. Develop individualized feeding plans aligned with family goals and physician guidance. Maintain up-to-date breastfeeding reference materials as a resource for caregivers and staff. Contribute to the development of guidelines, protocols, and care plans related to breastfeeding. Support data collection and program development efforts to improve breastfeeding outcomes. Lead support groups and/or teach classes such as Introduction to Breastfeeding and other prenatal education sessions. Experience: Lactation: 1 year preferred Required Qualifications Current Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification, or Certified Breastfeeding Specialist certification required. Basic Life Support certification High School Diploma Desired Qualifications Bilingual in Spanish Experience using EHR system RN or BSN not required but is a plus
