Schedule Information
We are seeking an experienced and certified Medical Assistant to work Monday-Thursday 5:00PM-8:30PM and Saturday 8:30AM-12:45PM. Please note that all new hires are required to attend New Hire Orientation. New Hire Orientation mandatory, and is two days (Monday & Tuesday) from 9:00AM-4:30PM the first week of employment.
This role requires an active CMA, RMA, NCMA, or CCMA as well as at least six months of direct patient care experience as a Medical Assistant.
In this role you will:
Review patient records for past medical problems, medication and immunization status, drug allergies, risk factors, and other pertinent information.
Interview patients and/or family members for appropriate information and obtain vital statistics indicated for the age, gender, and type of visit.
Perform laboratory testing and administer vaccines, analgesics, and nebulization treatments in accordance with established standards and office policy.
Observe, document, and report to provider and nursing staff patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments.
Complete applicable documentation for the patient visit.
Conduct basic parent and child education to include anticipatory guidance in accordance with office policy and as delegated by providers and leadership.
Role model excellent clinical skills with patients.
Communicate effectively and courteously while demonstrating a caring attitude toward patients and family.
Follow universal precautions, OSHA standards, and HIPAA regulations to include maintaining patient confidentiality.
Perform additional responsibilities to support the needs of the practice and patient families.

Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Active CMA, RMA, NCMA, or CCMA credential required. There are no exceptions to this certification requirement.
At least six (6) months of direct patient care experience as a Medical Assistant required.
Experience administering immunizations for pediatric patients is strongly preferred.
Practical understanding of OSHA, HIPPA, and CDC Guidelines.

Position Summary
Within designated authority, handles medical management claims with limited supervision.
This is an in office position, with hybrid flexibility.
Duties and Responsibilities
Handles first party medical benefit claims, including fatalities and wage loss claims. Evaluates and makes decisions regarding coverage. Conducts investigations, determines total value of claims, sets and maintains adequate reserves, and manages cases.
Prepares related correspondence and reports, obtains medical and employment related records, calculates wage loss claims per applicable state laws and brings claims to conclusion.
Investigates, evaluates, and resolves coverage questions in compliance with applicable state laws.
Establishes immediate contact with Policyholders and Claimants. Contacts Agents as necessary.
Reviews claim files on a regular basis and takes necessary follow-up and/or closing action.
Evaluates, processes and takes appropriate action on claim-related bills and medical, rehabilitation and special investigative reports. Determines claims to be paid, compromised or contested.
Coordinates activities with the Home Office on serious or massive injury cases. Notifies company investigative services of cases involving suspected fraud.
When appropriate manages claims in litigation and assist in the development of case strategy with legal counsel.

Ensure high quality patient care.
Maintain a professional atmosphere and appearance of doctor's office and pretest room.
Understand ocular terminology and diseases and know the ocular abbreviations.
Explain to the patient the types of preliminary examinations.
Complete necessary paperwork and perform testing on patients prior to doctor examination.
Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings to eligible patients.
Perform exam pre-screening.
Review prescriptions and/or patient information carefully and identify special needs. Consult with the optician, Doctor or Retail Management when necessary.
Ensure equipment, both Doctor's and pre-test, is properly maintained.
