Position Overview
Performs supportive patient care duties including including ADLs, patient hygiene, vital signs, obtaining weights, emptying and documenting of intake and output, performing phlebotomy and glucometer testing, EKG's, positioning. lifting and the ambulation of patients.
Performs transports as requested (of patients, medications, supplies and specimens).
Performs and records nursing care activities, such as changes in a patient's condition and behavior consistent with established policies, procedures, and protocols, as delegated by the registered nurse responsible for the patient.
Performs job tasks in accordance with hospital and department policy and procedure, including appropriate use of equipment, machines, appropriate use in wearing physical barriers and safety equipment.
Stocks and maintains supplies as required by the designated unit.
Documents observations and activities on appropriate records and documents; reports findings to the registered nurse.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School diploma or GED.
Experience: Six months of Nursing Assistant/Health Aid experience or currently enrolled in LPN/RN nursing program preferred.
Other Credentials: AHA Heartsaver AED. Non-Licensed must obtain before end of orientation period
Knowledge and Skills: Proficient in English, verbal and written communication.
Special Training: Successful completion of the Capital Health UAP Training program within 90 days of employment.

EXPERIENCE: Ability to speak and write English Language required. Bilingual preferred. Room turnover: includes taking out the trash, cleaning all areas of the OR, including the OR table, making the table up, and mopping the floor

Responsible for the continuous surveillance of the monitors of cardiac telemetry patients. Observes and documents information associated with patients on cardiac monitoring and telemetry system.
Continually observes cardiac monitors of telemetry and dialysis patients; reports changes and/or irregularities in rhythm patterns to the professional nurse. Diagnoses and records individual rhythm strips on all patients' charts after calculating rate, rhythm and interval measurements. WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and potential injury.
Reaching, stooping, kneeling and crouching approximately 25% of a workday; visual and physical ability required to work at a computer terminal; standing and walking
Approximately 50% of a workday; lifting approximately 50 to 100 pounds frequently with assistance occasionally; physical abilities required to push, pull or transport equipment and patients. Essential functions of this position are listed on the department specific Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

Patient Care Technician - Endoscopy - Part Time Days

As an integral part of the patient care team, the Patient Care Associate Surgical Services, performs direct and indirect patient care functions under the supervision of appropriately licensed personnel. The Associate is responsible for assisting patients with personal care needs and participates in the plan of care. The Associate regularly communicates observations and data collection to the Clinical Associate. This position also collects test specimens as directed according to established procedures and documents patient care activities consistent with data collection and the test performed.
The Associate may be required to perform Limited Laboratory Services to include: patient identification and preparation for specimen collection, processing samples for testing, performing required quality control testing and instrument maintenance and function checks, monitoring, recording and reporting tests results to clinicians to include critical values, and maintaining competency/certification of the aforementioned tasks and duties.
The Associate assists customers in a friendly, prompt, caring manner, always maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and respect. This position works as part of the care team to meet the needs of the customer and to support team objectives, assisting other team members when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High School degree or equivalent; ability to read, speak, and write English fluently. Bilingual preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Current BLSHCP from the American Heart Association and six to nine months patient care experience or formal education from an accredited school required); knowledge of medical terminology; interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and collaborate with other team members; ability to be flexible, set priorities, solve problems, and use proper judgment in difficult situations. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.
