Brief Description of Duties: The R/V Seawolf Captain reports directly to the Fleet Manager, and is responsible for all aspects of the 80' R/V Seawolf's operations and maintenance at Stony Brook University's School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (SoMAS).
The Captain is assisted by full-time technicians, and additional crew members as needed (as filled by other staff positions, temporary deckhands, or hired students).
The role primarily involves operating the R/V Seawolf, though occasional assistance with smaller SoMAS vessels may be required.
The Captain ensures the vessel's safe operation, maintenance, and effective support of SoMAS research and educational activities, which often include multiple trawling cruises.
The successful incumbent must have the ability to undertake fieldwork in varying conditions and must be able to handle sampling gear for fieldwork.
Key Responsibilities:Captain: Serve as Captain, ensuring the safety of the vessel, crew, and passengers.
Ensure compliance with all US Coast Guard and regulatory requirements.
Maintain all required logs and submit daily reports.
Conduct bottom trawling/research respectfully.
Operations: Safely operate shipboard scientific equipment and sampling apparatus.
Conduct safety briefings, arrange berthing/supplies in coordination with the Fleet Manager, and occasionally operate smaller SoMAS vessels and transport vehicles (trucks, vans, forklifts).
Maintenance & Repair:Inspect, perform, and/or oversee operational maintenance and repairs for the ship and its systems (engines, hydraulics, electrical, etc.
) both at sea and in port.
This includes scraping, painting, repairing trawl nets/cables, and supervising shipyard work (in-person).
Supervision & Training: Train and supervise full-time technicians, temporary deckhands, and student crew during operations and maintenance.
Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
Special Notes:This is a full-time appointment.
FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $4,000 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.

A Day in the Life:
Pre-Flight Preparation
Your day begins one hour prior to departure, giving you ample time to:
Review key flight details in Traxxall, including maintenance status, NOTAMs, fuel loads, weather conditions, and routing.
Collaborate with the Captain to discuss departure and arrival strategies, including diversion planning if needed.
Perform all required pre-flight checks, safety procedures, and flows to ensure the aircraft is clear.
In-Flight Operations
Operating the aircraft in full compliance with FAA regulations, JSX SOPs, and industry safety standards.
Maintain real-time communication with Mission Control (Dispatch), Ground Operations, ATC, and your Flight Attendant.
Serve as the secondary voice to the Captain in decision-making, ready to act quickly and confidently in dynamic conditions.
Post-Flight Duties
Assist with quick turn tasks, including light cabin tidying: clean tray tables, cross seatbelts, collect trash, and support the Flight Attendant as needed to ensure an on-time departure.
Log any maintenance in Traxxall and communicate critical updates to Mission Control
Additional responsibilities include:
Participating in recurrent training and performance evaluations to maintain proficiency and grow in your career.
Step in to assist with baggage handling or other duties at smaller airports where ground support is limited.

McAllister Towing of NY is seeking highly qualified Captains. Duties and Responsibilities are outlined below.
Captain: Reports to:
The Captain reports to the General Manager or his/her designated representative.
Supervises:
The Captain is required to supervise all crewmembers of the vessel to which he/she is assigned.
Description of Duties:
Master of a tug or towing vessel.
Vessel Security Officer (VSO) in charge of implementing and maintaining the AWO Alternative Security Program.
Responsible to safely and efficiently operate and manage (performance of crew, vessel, and tow).
Serve as Officer in Charge of the Navigation Watch.
Assess and maintain vessel seaworthiness.
Ensure the availability and serviceability of required lifesaving equipment.
Verify the serviceability of all installed fire detection and firefighting systems and equipment.
Require accommodations to be maintained in safe, clean condition at all times.
Provide clear direction to subordinates.
Prepare periodic performance evaluations for subordinates.
Maintain vessel and crew readiness for emergency responses.
Conduct and report the results of periodic vessel audits and inspections.
Operate and maintain the assigned vessel in accordance with the quality, safety, security and environmental protection policies and procedures in the Vessel Operations Manual.
Organize and conduct required training, drills and exercises.
Complete, submit and maintain required records, logs and reports.
Ensure adequate vessel manning and watches.
Project a positive company image and maintain professional, amicable relationships with customers, pilots, terminal personnel and the public at all times.
Other duties as may be assigned by the General Manager or his/her designated representative.

Physical Requirements: The unpredictable, ever-changing and inherently dangerous nature of tug and towing operations require the Captain to be physically qualified to ensure his/her own safety, as well as that of the vessel and crew. Specific physical requirements include:
Adequate vision (i.e., absent any color blindness or impairment that cannot be corrected with prescription lenses).
Adequate hearing. Capable of walking and standing on wet surfaces for extended periods of time.
Able to handle heavy lines and operate heavy machinery.
Ability to climb a 12-foot ladder without assistance.
Ability to hoist oneself up and over a 12-inch wide, 6-foot-high barrier.
Sufficient strength to:
Lift 100 lbs. from deck to waist level.
Lift 50 lbs. from deck to shoulder level.

Your Role
As a Job Captain in our New York office your job is to combine creativity and technical knowledge with business skills and understanding to produce functionally beautiful spaces for clients. With you as part of the design team, architecture has never been so engaging.
What You Will Do
* Partner with Project Architect to produce accurate technical and contract documentation for construction of project
* Provide project team coordination for incorporating design intent into the construction documentation
* Participate in construction administration, evaluate bids, conduct site visits, address technical issues, and maintain quality control during construction
* Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives
* Utilize hand and 3D software renderings to communicate design concepts
Your Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited program
* 5-8 years of post-graduation experience
* Experience with Critical Facilities (i.e. data centers, command and control centers, high-performance computing, etc.) or similarly complex projects required
* Knowledge of building codes, zoning, jurisdictional processes, building materials, specifications, and construction techniques
* Experience in construction document preparation and field observation
* Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop)
* Proficient in Revit, Rhino, SketchUp and other 3D modeling software
* LEED accreditation preferred

The base salary range will be estimated between $82-95k. Gensler's total compensation package is multi-layered and includes a base salary, two annual bonuses paid in December and June, an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), and profit sharing.
