Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking two Law Enforcement Captains - Boca Raton, FL.
The Law Enforcement Captain is responsible for the operations of the FAU Police Department and must meet the requirements as set forth in Chapter 943 Florida State Statutes. The Law Enforcement Captain commands the road patrol division in directing the law enforcement and public safety activities at FAU.
Responsibilities:
Ensures the Police Department is prepared to handle all types of emergencies and/or disasters.
Recognizes an armed offender and possesses the knowledge to prevent such violence by proper threat assessments and training.
Analyzes situations accurately, makes effective decisions/judgments under pressure and during emergency situations, and takes appropriate action.
Coordinates the department's involvement in special events held on all campuses.
Act as Incident Commander during critical emergency situations.
Possess the ability to develop strategic plans for the Police department that are consistent with the University's strategic plans.
Ensure that the department adheres to a community-oriented policing strategy that supports the department's mission with an emphasis on a positive/proactive approach that facilitates the overall mission of the University.
Lead, direct, supervise, motivate, and inspire others; evaluate and measure the performance of people, teams, and organizations; and assess performance and progress.
Builds morale and enhance the abilities of those supervised.
Supervise sworn and non-sworn personnel.
Resolve operational problems and situations as they occur. Initiate and support innovation and ideas with creativity, flexibility, responsiveness, and focus.
Possess comprehensive knowledge of and apply current Law Enforcement methods, policies, procedures, rules, regulations, laws, criminal investigative practices, techniques and procedures, modern community policing, and problem-solving philosophies; and make sound recommendations based on findings of investigations.
Effectively communicates information in a clear and understandable manner, both verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with the campus community, the surrounding communities, and the public.
Initiates, establishes, and fosters communication and teamwork through a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere in and outside the University.
Maintains dignity and self-control in managing a broad range of high-level and sensitive interpersonal situations with diverse personalities from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
Communicate with members of the University community for the purposes of improving Police service and improving department community communications.
Represent the department in various community activities and make public presentations to groups. Direct the Investigative division to work actively with other agencies to track crime trends and spikes outside the University.
Improves operations, decreases turnaround times, streamlines work processes, and works cooperatively and jointly to provide quality, seamless customer service.

Minimum Qualifications:

Maintain a working knowledge of active ingredients, menus, specials, and industry trends.
Ensure that workstations (i.e., cups, glasses, silverware, plates, tables, and chairs) are clean and stocked. Complete all assigned side work (i.e., fill salt and pepper shakers, sugar containers, clean and replace stocks).
Properly set up, serve, and break down table sections as assigned. Clean and reset tables after guests have left according to established standards. Remove dirty dishes from the dining room as needed and take them to the washing area. Reset and restock any and all tables and chairs and service areas according to standards while maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment. Maintain safe and sanitary conditions and all work areas.
Obtain orders from the kitchen and deliver them to the table along with appropriate condiments and utensils in a timely manner.

Role Summary:
The Banquet Beverage Captain oversees all beverage operations for banquet events, ensuring exceptional service and a seamless guest experience. This role includes supervising bar staff, coordinating beverage setup and breakdown, managing inventory, and maintaining compliance with alcohol service regulations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and experience in banquet or hospitality settings.
This role is a flexible position (AM / PM), and all candidates must be able to work weekends, holidays, and nights. We have a full-time position available.
Essential Qualifications:
Minimum 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
2 years' experience in banquet food service.
Food handling certificate and responsible vendor training certificate.
Knowledge of various food service styles.
Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding.
Ability to provide legible communication.
Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.

Ability to maintain hotel's standards, policies and procedures with assigned staff.

Responsibilities
Reviews Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) to ensure that all details, such as food and beverage, seating, and special requests, etc. are met.
Conducts pre-banquet meetings with staff to: ensure appearance, uniform, and hygiene standards are being met; assign stations and partners; and review banquet event orders.
Communicates with the Supervisors and Managers to ensure that all details have been planned for and met. Ensures that changes and further instructions are made in a timely manner.
Ensures that appropriate quantities of china, glassware, silverware, linens, and other items are available for upcoming events. Secure requisitions for those items not available in inventory.
Checks room set-up prior to event and meets with Chefs to confirm quantities of food items and timing of food leaving the kitchen.
Ensures proper handling of all equipment (i.e. china, glassware, silverware, linen, and props) and their proper storage after use.
Conducts random audits during functions to evaluate food and service. Ensures that: food is served at appropriate temperature; food is placed properly on the table; sufficient food is available; and up sell opportunities are met.
Regularly reviews banquet schedule for changes, calendar of events, and special events.
Handle client complaints and issues promptly, working with the event planning team to resolve any challenges.
Train and mentor banquet servers and other event staff to uphold the standards of the convention center.
Ensure staff adheres to safety, health, and sanitation guidelines during events.
Qualifications
Minimum of 6 months experience in a leadership role
Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
