Job Summary
Summary: Supervises Catering Department employees. Prepares and serves food at functions under the supervision of the Catering Director. May drive a truck to deliver food and beverages to catered functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervises employees in the Catering Department. Assists in the performance appraisal process.
Determines workload requirements from catering orders.
Meets with function group leaders to discuss setup arrangements, addresses last-minute changes and resolves problems.
Assembles and delivers food and supplies to the scheduled catering functions.
Returns food, beverages, serving equipment and utensils to catering facility.
Distributes and collects customer comment cards at catered functions.
Ensures proper presentation, portion control and serving temperatures.
Maintains sanitation and orderliness of equipment, supplies and utensils within work area.
Cleans equipment in a timely fashion; thoroughly cleans workstation before leaving the area for other assignments.
Interacts with customers and resolves customer complaints in a friendly and service-oriented manner; relays relevant customer concerns to supervisor.
Follows principles of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment.
Performs other duties as assigned.

The main objective of the Banquet Captain is to supervise the floor, make sure food is presented neatly, served on time and that all functions are coordinated properly.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for controlling all aspects in the execution of banquet function.
Effectively supervise the Banquet staff during all food and beverage service.
Coordinating every aspect of the Banquet staff during all food and beverage service.
Assist the Banquet Manager in the complete operation of the Banquet Department.

The property offers 801 guest rooms and suites, multiple restaurants, a vibrant rooftop bar, a sprawling pool, spa, and fitness center. The hotel will also have over 120,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, including a grand ballroom, junior ballroom, 25 breakout rooms and pre-function meeting space with waterfront views
The main objective of the Banquet Captain is to supervise the floor, make sure food is presented neatly, served on time and that all functions are coordinated properly.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Responsible for controlling all aspects in the execution of banquet function.
* Effectively supervise the Banquet staff during all food and beverage service.
* Coordinating every aspect of the Banquet staff during all food and beverage service.
* Assist the Banquet Manager in the complete operation of the Banquet Department.
* Responsible for adhering to hotel policies and procedures.
* Responsible for adhering to all liquor liability laws.
* Must assist/conduct all designated staff/pre-function meetings.
* Control Labor by monitoring staff productivity.
* Monitor staff schedule for daily adequate staffing levels.
* Maintain the cleanliness of the department (Service hallway, beverage machine, reach-in and walk-in coolers, all storage rooms, etc.)
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Must have a minimum of 3 years banquet serving experience. Those with previous banquet captain or other similar leadership experience are preferred.
* Candidate must have proven leadership skills and must be able to direct, develop and motivate staff.
* Ability to teach employees importance of, and how to greet guests and courteously solve requests
* Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate both verbally and in writing in English with guests, management, and co-workers, both in person and by telephone
* Ability to work cohesively with co-workers both within and outside of your department
* Ability to compute accurate mathematical calculations and have previous cash handling experience
* Must be familiar with BEO's, Banquet Checks and Banquet Room Sets
* Ability to think clearly, quickly and make concise decisions
* Ability to prioritize, organize and follow up
* Ability to handle stressful situations, while maintaining a calm and welcoming demeanor.
* Must have experience in handling beverages.
* Must be actively TABC Certified.
* Ability to work flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays.
* Must be able to carry a full banquet server tray on shoulder

THE ROLE
The Banquet Captain is responsible for overseeing banquet events to ensure excellent guest service, smooth operations, and high team performance. This role acts as the main point of contact for the client on-site and leads the banquet staff before, during, and after the event.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) with the Chef and Food Services Manager prior to each event to confirm menu details, timing, special requests, and staffing needs.
Conduct pre-event inspections of function space to ensure cleanliness, proper setup, and ambiance.
Meet with the client before the event to confirm the itinerary and review any last-minute adjustments.
Lead the pre-shift lineup: assign tasks, inspect uniforms, review menu details, and communicate service expectations.
Supervise banquet servers throughout the event, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
Anticipate guest needs, promptly respond to requests, and maintain a visible presence during events.
Monitor food presentation, garnishes, and adherence to event specifications.
Enforce responsible alcohol service in accordance with company policies.
Address guest concerns or service issues promptly and professionally.
Complete event closing duties, including Captain's Reports detailing operations and client feedback.
Ensure staff complete all side-work and closing responsibilities before signing out.
Provide feedback on staff performance and communicate any disciplinary concerns to the Manager.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in both front-of-house and back-of-house areas during events.
Foster a positive and productive work environment that supports teamwork and excellent service.
Notify management when supplies (e.g., condiments, beverages) are running low if applicable.
Other duties as assigned.
