Nuclear Site Security Shift Captain The Nuclear Site Security Shift Captain is a site-based position that reports directly to the Site Security Manager. The focus of this role is to plan, organize, direct, and supervise a security shift to ensure compliance with NRC regulatory commitments and responsible for the overall implementation of the operations side of the security program. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to; creating and updating procedures, policies, and post orders to ensure regulatory requirements are met, complete self-assessments of the security program, lead audits and inspections, interface with operations, maintenance, etc. to ensure the Safety/Security interface Program is implemented and provide oversight to the program, and oversight of the Corrective Action Program. Responsibilities * Serve as a TerraPower site physical security leader and provide day-to-day oversight for contract / in-house security programs and personnel during construction phase. * Creating Procedures, Policies, and Post Orders for Security Operations. * Supervise a security shift during operation phases, ensuring regulatory compliance with day-to-day activities, providing mentoring and developing of Sergeants and Security Officer assigned to the shift and enforcing standards. * Support the design, construction, and implementation of physical protection systems including barriers, access control facilities, intrusion detection & assessment systems, training facilities, and security response positions. * Serve as a security liaison to varied stakeholders to support requirements associated with plant design, safety & security interface, memorandums of understanding, and other support documents. * Support the Security Manager in development and the implementation of regulatory and licensing documents to include physical security plans, training and qualification plans, contingency response plans, procedures, policies, and post orders. * Support development and conduct of security personnel training programs for the construction and operating phases of the project, to include oversight of on-the-job training. * Support development of the physical security protective strategy. * Ensure onsite control of security sensitive documents in accordance with TerraPower programs. * Perform nuclear security audits and assessments necessary to ensure compliance with program requirements. * Utilize work management processes to prepare and review technical materials and support nuclear safety programs. * Coordinate with design personnel to ensure new designs and design changes meet physical security regulatory requirements * Ensure all components of the plant security system are inspected and tested at required intervals and requires that work requests are initiated on discovered deficiencies * Initiates Security reports as needed * Monitor and assess the department's safety culture and safety conscious work environment, determine if actions are necessary to address shortfalls in either area. Report shortfall in either area to the Security Manager; Verify that pertinent information is communicated down to all levels. Perform independent verification to ascertain effectiveness of departmental communications; Strictly enforce weapons handling protocols IAW approved training plans and fleet governance procedures. * Help promote a company culture that encourages top performance, high morale, and a focus on industrial safety. * Maintains a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, partners, suppliers, co-workers, and management. * Act as the Site Security Manager in their absence.
