Summary Description:
Under general direction, this position will be responsible for improving charge capture accuracy through workflow assessments coding reviews process improvement collaboration and reporting. The Cardiology Coding Specialist works collaboratively with leadership to assist in development project management and implementation of process enhancements or corporation initiatives to enhance charge capture accuracy. In addition, this role monitors and analyzes coding performance at the section and business unit levels. The primary role of this position is to support education, documentation principals, clean claims, and denial prevention.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Review charts and capture all reportable services.
Coordinate with other coding staff to ensure all reportable services are captured and assigned to appropriate physician or ARNP.
Assign all appropriate ICD codes, CPT codes, and modifiers per ICD, CPT, and Medicare or commercial carrier published guidelines. Enter charges, review WQs to address edits/denials.
Review work queues in EMR and resolve coding issues for professional services for both hospital and clinic places of service.
Reconcile charges monthly to ensure capture of all reportable services.
Work with business office to resolve hospital billing questions/coding denials or concerns.
Assist employees and physicians in providing coding guidance. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Pull audit reports and back up documentation for internal audits.
Comply with all legal requirements regarding coding procedures and practices
Conduct audits and coding reviews to ensure all documentation is precise and accurate
Assign and/or review the sequence of all CPT and ICD 10 codes for services rendered
Collaborate with AR teams to ensure all claims are completed and processed in a timely manner
Support the team with applying expertise and knowledge as it relates to claim denials
Aid in submitting appeals with various payers about coding errors and disputes
Submit statistical data for analysis and research by other departments
Ability to identify PSI triggers or have working knowledge of PSI triggers which includes identifying and assigning co-morbidities and complications.
Ability to assign the appropriate DRG, discharge disposition code and principal DX codes
Serves as the liaison between revenue cycle operations and clients as it relates to charge capture documentation and reconciliation
Possesses a clear understanding of the physician revenue cycle
Oversees understands and communicates coding and charging processes for each client account based on their existing EHR system as it relates to office and hospital-based services which includes charge captures charge linkages to the CDM and charging processes.
Analyzes and communicates denial trends to Clients and operational leaders.
CPC or CCS coding credentials required. Cardiology experience preferred. EMR, eCW, Centricity, Epic, Encoder Pro or 3M experience highly desired.
Microsoft Office Skills:
Excel - Must have the ability to create and manage simple spreadsheets.

Responsible overseeing the clinic and hospital coding practices and documentation of medical information as it pertains to reimbursement, compliance and quality assurance. SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Compliance, Coding, Documentation and Reimbursement Activities:
Supervises and performs a wide range of activities pertaining to the review and coding of inpatient and outpatient medical record information.
Assist Practice Administrators with allocation of coding resources across all clinics to ensure coverage to meet month end deadlines.
Assist hospital partners with coding consistency and/or other information on and an ongoing basis.
Performs data quality reviews on inpatient records to validate the International Classification of Diseases Manual (ICD-10), the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), and the Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) Level II code and modifier assignments; verifies appropriateness; checks for missed secondary diagnoses and procedures and ensures compliance with all diagnosis mandates and reporting requirements; monitors Medicare and other bulletins and manuals, and reviews the current Office of the Inspector General (OIG) work plans for diagnosis risk areas.
Participate in the MACRA team (not sure what this team is or if it still exists). Train/instruct and coach staff in proper coding practices to strengthen risk-adjusted coding.
Assist the coding and billing department in determination of proper indications for services.
Maintain a current written policy and procedure Coding Manual to secure accurate, consistent and compliant coding and billing practices.
Provide an up-to-date resource for providers and staff to review proper Medicare indications for services. Assist with maintaining an electronic Medicare resource on “shared data” for quick access to current Medicare information by staff and/or providers.
Assist in the review and resolution of medical necessity denials. Provide medical information on claims requiring such to be processed.
Assist with the development of and implementation of an internal coding audit program.
Complete internal documentation, billing and compliance audits on a reoccurring basis. Obtain information, through chart reviews and data studies, to assess medical documentation of reimbursement, compliance and risk management issues.
Communicate findings to the Business Services Director, Practice Administrators, and Providers and assist in communicating the findings and need for improvement in medical documentation.
Assure education of nurses, staff and providers across CIS on documentation requirements, coding and billing practices, Medicare policies and procedures and compliance rules.
Attend workshops and seminars to assure up-to-date information of topics that apply to coding, billing and compliance.
Review no less than once a quarter the E&M Analysis to look for education opportunities for providers.
Present to all coders at least once a quarter some type of coding education for clinic or hospital or both based on recent audit findings.
Assist in the development and on-going review of coding productivity to ensure that productivity levels remain at or above Med Axiom benchmarks.
Quality and Risk Management Monitoring and Education
Work closely with office team leaders and staff to assure consistency of coding and billing practices, documentation and compliance activities. Answer questions and give guidance as needed.
Review annual Medicare quality and cost data reports to determine areas of opportunity.
Works in harmony with CIS Compliance to assure that all coding is being done in a compliant manner and that issues related to compliance and coding are being addressed in a timely manner.

The Patient Engagement Specialist will function as a critical member of the Heart Failure Program and will work closely with the heart failure clinical team in ensuring patient engagement, success, and satisfaction. This Patient Engagement Specialist will be responsible for outreaching, enrolling, and coordinating patients. This includes, but may not be limited to:THIS IS A REMOTE WORK FROM HOME POSITION
WITHIN ORLANDO, FLORIDA AREA ONLY
Oversee and manage a referral list of patients eligible for enrollment.
Outreach to target list of patients in a timely manner and maintain appropriate documentation.
Aim to increase patient engagement by professionally informing patients and/or caregivers on the individualized care and service they can expect.
Assist patients with scheduling appointments in accordance with the Heart Failure program.
Handles and coordinates inbound and outbound calls in a professional, courteous and timely manner.
Manages and screens calls according to caller's needs and assists in resolving or redirecting the call if appropriate.
Handle tracking and coordination of mailings in collaboration with the care team
Ensure patient demographics in the medical record is updated with current information.
Review and follow up on voice mail messages in a timely manner.
Aim to always deliver an excellent patient experience.
Build a good rapport and maintain long-lasting relationships with patients and caregivers.
Participate in staff meetings.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Background:
High school diploma or GED
Minimum one-year experience in customer service or a healthcare call center.
Some experience in a medical office setting or healthcare experience is a plus.
Experience with telehealth a plus.
Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and pleasantly with patients and other care team providers.
Excellent customer service skills with the goal of achieving high quality customer satisfaction.
Excellent at taking initiative, multi-tasking, and organizing.
Brings a positive attitude, is compassionate, and enjoys working within a team approach.
Experience working with electronic health record, such as Athena, as well as tools including Microsoft Word, Excel and other computer applications is strongly preferred.
Bi-lingual fluency (English and Spanish speaking) is required.
This is a remote position. A dedicated space to ensure HIPAA compliance with reliable broadband is required.
