Responsibilities


The
Autotransfusionist
provides the safe and efficient operation of an autologous blood recovery system. This position also provides some surgical assistance.


Duties, Accountabilities and Responsilbilities:
These duties, upon prescription by a physician and in accordance with hospital policy, include but are not limited to, the safe performance and/or management of:
Conducts all pre-, para-, and post-operative procedures necessary for autologous blood recovery and subsequent autotranfusion. Oversees and assures absolute aseptic conditions surrounding all aspects of autologous blood recovery and autotransfusion. Maintains departmental equipment and supplies. Participates in departmental quality improvement and performance improvement efforts. Provides customer service by utilizing communication skills and technical knowledge to ensure UTHET and departmental objectives are maintained. Participates in surgical assistance as necessary.



Qualifications



Education:
Must have a high school diploma and attend the manufacturer recommended autotransfusion in-service training program.
Certification and Licensure:
Certificate of attendance from manufacturer recommended autotransfusion in-service training program.
Skills: Knowledge and proficiency in the following:
Patient assessment and application of appropriate protocols or modalities. All standard acceptable modalities pertaining to the conduct of autotranfusion. Effective communication with patients, families, physicians, and co-workers.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time. Move safely and prudently from one place to another in the OR setting. Lift and transport light equipment and push heavy pump consoles around. Lift and reposition heavy patients when extra help is needed.
Environmental Conditions:
Involves continuous exposure to unpleasant temperature environments. Involves exposure to communicable diseases and hazards associated with handling blood and body fluids, needles, and other hazardous materials. This is an OSHA category I position. Body substance isolated must be practiced.

Department: Cardiac Cath Lab

$3000.00 SIGN ON BONUS

Purpose: Provides general and specialized diagnostic imaging service and care to patients during both diagnostic and therapeutic imaging procedures. The technologist is accountable for optimal diagnostic images through the use of various types of diagnostic equipment. During procedures the RTR will function in one of three roles: circulator, scrub, or recorder.

Report To: Manager

Supervisory Responsibility: Direction: The job requires some accountability for scheduling, assigning or coordinating work. Employees check the quality of work and provide guidance, instruction, training and direction to others. Although the job does not require formal or official supervisory responsibility, the incumbent serves as group leader or acts in an informal "assistant supervisory" or "lead" role. In addition, the employee may be expected to provide information or suggestions on human resources matters.

Materials Responsibility: Limited: Work requires limited responsibility for material resources. Examples of resources could include supplies, equipment, inventories, small budgets, and other similar material assets. The employee has a limited amount of control over these resources. The cost of errors is also limited in terms of damage, waste or financial loss. Problems associated with material resources are not complex. The volume of resources may vary, but the level of difficulty in dealing with these resources is uncomplicated.

Licensure/Registration: Illinois Permit to Practice and ARRT

Experience: More than 2 years experience required.

Interpersonal Skills: Interaction is with a variety of people inside or outside the organization. Communications are of moderate difficulty and sensitivity. Contact with others may involve detailed & lengthy dialogues & exchanges of information. Requires a moderate amount of interpersonal skills. Interactions involve dealing with moderately complicated problem situations or stressful encounters.

Working Conditions: There is routine exposure to highly adverse environmental conditions including physical hazards, health and safety risks, and otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment. Personal risks require safety equipment or precautions to be followed closely. The time the employee is exposed to these conditions exceed 70% of their work day.

Responsibilities
