Has the authority to discipline where appropriate.
Investigates and assesses all customer complaints, problems and incidents, which occur on shift. Takes appropriate corrective action to resolve complaint. Reports all incidents and actions taken to the on shift supervisor and nurse director.

Bachelors degree in Nursing and a minimum of 2 years job-related experience or equivalent is required.
RI State Nursing Licensure required.

The Providence Center Nurse Educator provides training and preceptorship to nurses at The Providence Center (TPC). The Nurse Educator works in coordination with nursing leadership to ensure the delivery of an excellent standard of care, which promotes independence and dignity and positively enhances the lives of our consumers.
The Nurse Educator will act as a Nurse Planner for TPC, and assist the Director of Nursing and Clinical Training Manager in providing workshops and trainings that will provide CEUs to nurses.
This position may also act as FLOAT Nurse for programs throughout TPC in times of shortages or when re-allocation of resources is needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Acts as a resource nurse for new nursing staff and provides feedback and competency evaluation.
Trains and oversees the training of all new nursing staff at TPC. May be asked to assist with training of non-nursing clinical staff and training facilitation to direct care staff on an as needed basis.
Receives training in all TPC programs with nursing needs in order to provide support and ongoing training to existing staff and new nurses. These programs include Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU), Mens/Womens Road to Recovery (MRTR/WRTR), group homes, Integrated Care Teams (ICT) and Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) teams. Additional programs may be added as applicable.
Works in conjunction with area colleges and universities to facilitate clinical mental health rotations within TPC.
Oversees Student Nurse Interns when applicable.
Identifies nursing education needs through the Center and provides necessary training in conjunction with Director of Nursing (DON) and Clinical Training Manager.
Serves on the Clinical Nurse Ladder Committee.
Serves as Nurse Planner for TPC and works in conjunction with Care New England Primary Nurse Planner.
Collaborates with the DON on issue resolutions, projects to improve TPC workflow processes, and education and supervision to staff in response to incident reports.
Attends trainings, case presentations and conferences as necessary. Provides feedback to staff on the content of educational programs attended.
Completes assessments, plan of care, interventions, evaluations, and re-evaluations of client status.
Prioritizes duties, treatment and follow-up.
May act as Float nurse in times of nursing shortage.
Works alongside TPCs Clinical Training Manager to implement and facilitate training opportunities for clinical staff.
Works collaboratively alongside members of the TPC Senior Leadership Team when applicable.
May facilitate monthly Nurse Meeting with ACT 1 and ACT 2 nurses as well as quarterly meeting with residential nurses.
