    Primary Function Responsible for performing various patient care activities and related non-professional services to care for the personnel needs and comforts of patients. Responsible for coordinating non-nursing services within unit to create positive milieu. Work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and observe all hospital policies and procedures. Maintains unit check board or electronic medical record documentation ensuring that 15 minute checks are performed on all necessary patients. Responsibilities Maintains 15 minute check log or 15 minute electronic medical record documentation according to departmental procedure. Completes the following security procedures according to departmental procedures: Safe management of patient belongings/valuables/medications. Obtains vital signs and records them according to departmental procedures. Performs supportive activities that facilitate the timely and efficient assessment of the patient by clinicians/physicians. Provides teaching for patients and families regarding rights of patients. Assists in escorting the patient to units or testing areas and introduces patient and family to receiving unit staff assisting patient in a successful transition to other care areas Observe assigned patients and report any patient care problem, change in patient condition or unexpected occurrences to RN/Team Leader. Maintain current knowledge of specialty by attending seminars and in-services. Performs all other related duties as assigned. Job Qualifications and Specifications Minimum 3 years related experience Knowledge and/or previous experience working within Rhode Island mental health system or substance abuse system Associate s Degree or higher in Human Services preferred CPI preferred. Required within 6 months of hire.
