Position Summary A Caregiver provides basic patient care services and assistance with daily living activities under direction of the nursing staff. Caregivers perform duties such as feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, using the toilet, changing linens and some housekeeping. Coordinates and participates in the prompt and courteous response to resident requests for assistance, including resident call systems, pendants and other devices. Promotes a safe environment for residents by observing infection control practices, following facility guidelines, and reporting unsafe situations to the Supervisor. Assist and coordinates in the preparation and transportation of residents for appointments and social programs. Assist and coordinates with moving and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc. Assist and coordinates with helping residents to walk with or without self help devices as instructed. Assists residents to eat or drink as needed. Routinely checks on each resident at shift change and as directed at other times to ensure that his/her personal care needs are being met in accordance with his/her wishes and advise Supervisor accordingly. Coordinate and monitor special resident services offered by the facility. Attend and participate in in-services as required by federal, state and La Posada requirements. Maintain current qualifications as a certified caregiver including fingerprint clearance, annual TB clearance, CPR and 1st aid certification.
