The Senior Client Billing Specialist will be responsible for managing all billing functions for assigned client accounts and/or specialized practice groups. Core responsibilities include generating invoices for assigned accounts and attorneys, managing electronic billing through various platforms in compliance with client-specific guidelines, and ensuring all e-billed invoices are successfully submitted and approved for payment.
This role will work closely with the Collections team to support collection activities and will collaborate with the Timekeeper Matter Maintenance team during new client onboarding to ensure matter setups align with outside counsel guidelines and engagement letters. The specialist will be expected to take full ownership of their assigned clients and/or practice groups and manage all related billing processes with a high level of expertise.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Process client bills via Aderant software.
Submit assigned client invoices as required by client drive outside counsel guidelines and/or engagement letters. Process invoices through Bill-Blast and, if necessary, upload LEDES files on e-billing vendor site.
Research and answer questions pertaining to assigned client accounts and/or practice group assignments.
Review and edit pre-bills in response to attorney and secretary requests.
Handle and process a high volume of complex bills.
Review and verify accuracy of billing and supporting documentation as required.
Own the full scope of electronic billing for assigned clients, beginning with a finalized invoice and ending with a successful approval for payment, processing appeals as needed on short-paid invoices.
Prepare ad hoc reports for attorneys as needed.
Collaborate with Billing Supervisor, attorney, and client contact on transitions from paper billing to electronic billing.
Manage accounts of a highly specialized, advanced, or sensitive nature.
Build rapport with billing attorneys as well as client contacts to establish and maintain solid client relationships.
Perform special projects and additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
5+ years of progressive experience as a Biller/E-biller, preferably in a law firm environment.
Strong technical skills. Proficiency with Windows-based software and Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook are required.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in order to meet critical deadlines.
