    🌿 About the Role Naples Zoo is seeking a hands-on, motivated Maintenance Assistant Manager to help lead our Maintenance Department. Mentor and train staff, fostering teamwork and professional growth. Assist in managing tools, equipment, and materials to keep the department running smoothly. Help ensure compliance with Zoo safety policies and industry regulations. Partner with other Zoo departments to complete projects and minimize guest impact. Respond to and assist with emergency calls (plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and structural issues). Work with outside contractors and vendors as needed. Support department budgeting, purchasing, and reporting. Keep accurate records of work orders, inspections, and maintenance schedules. Contribute to team meetings and Zoo-wide communication. Maintain positive, professional interactions with Zoo staff and guests. Be available for occasional after-hours emergencies. (Preferred) Serve as part of the Naples Zoo Emergency Response Team (ERT). ✅ What We're Looking For Education & Experience High school diploma required; college or trade education preferred (experience may be substituted for education). Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or management experience required. Minimum of 3 years of experience in facility maintenance strongly preferred. Skills & Abilities Strong leadership and communication skills with a focus on teamwork. Ability to troubleshoot problems, identify solutions, and implement repairs effectively. Hands-on experience or technical training in areas such as carpentry, metalwork, fabrication, welding, painting, plumbing, or electrical work. Knowledge of safe and proper operation of equipment such as tractors, backhoes, lifts, and forklifts (training provided if needed). Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple projects. Adaptability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Requirements Job Requirements: Coordinate team member selection and development and ensure team members comply with appropriate policies and procedures Follow-up on work assignments to ensure efficient, thorough completion of assigned work orders Perform water testing and other maintenance duties related to a well-water system or on-site water meters, if applicable Ensure water samples are taken on a regular basis Oversee and assist the maintenance team with all aspects of property maintenance and repairs of grounds and facilities such as lawns, clubhouses, pools, streets, curbs, and gardening/landscape Assist with the selection of all contractual services and supervise on-site contractors Ensure staff are performing duties in a safe manner, adhering to all safety procedures, and properly using safety equipment Prioritize and resolve resort service requests including maintaining records of types and frequency of service requests received Establish emergency maintenance on-call schedule Ensure adherence to all company operating policies Maintain vehicle/equipment maintenance logs and ensures proper maintenance of resort vehicles Coordinate and ensure completion of routine maintenance and minor emergency repairs Ensures safe storage of hazardous chemicals and/or equipment Prepare all maintenance-related logs in accordance with the Operations Manual Review and approve exterior improvement requests and tree maintenance/removal requests Maintain inventory of equipment, tools, and supplies Purchase supplies, equipment, and services as needed while ensuring to adhere to budget guidelines Meet with RV Resort Manager daily to report on the status of all scheduled maintenance work and notify the manager of unsightly or hazardous conditions with recommended solutions Assist RV Resort Manager with all aspects of the capital expenditure program, including reviewing the budget variances as needed Job Qualifications: Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to use Microsoft Office, email, and the internet Demonstrated leadership abilities Ability to motivate and train staff Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to multitask, prioritize, problem-solve, and manage time Proficient skills in operating various hand tools and power equipment Demonstrated knowledge of plumbing, electrical, construction, pool, and grounds maintenance Ability to respond to resort needs during non-business hours 1 year of supervisory experience is preferred 3 years of experience with general maintenance techniques, repair work, and groundskeeping is preferred Valid Driver's License is preferred The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
